Job description

The Trafford and Stockport College Group (TSCG) is seeking an experienced ICT Infrastructure and Cyber Security Analyst to contribute to our vision of unlocking potential and fostering success.

About The Role:

Job Summary

Provide first-line IT support while maintaining, securing and developing campus IT infrastructure, assets and cyber security. Ensure systems, networks, devices and software remain operational, up to date, resilient and compliant, while supporting staff and contributing to wider IT projects and service improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to and resolve end-user support requests within agreed service levels, escalating where required.

Manage and maintain campus IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, WiFi, storage and virtualisation platforms.

Monitor systems proactively, diagnose and resolve faults, and coordinate with suppliers when necessary.

Ensure software, operating systems, applications and firmware are updated, patched and compliant.

Lead IT asset management, maintaining accurate inventories throughout the asset lifecycle.

Support and strengthen cyber security through vulnerability management, security controls, incident response and compliance activities.

Administer user accounts, access permissions and secure remote access solutions.

Maintain backup, recovery, business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures and infrastructure records.

Provide training and guidance to staff on technology and cyber security best practices.

Support printing, telecommunications and audio-visual systems.

Deliver second and third-line technical support and contribute to IT projects and infrastructure development.

Liaise with third-party providers, support service improvements and ensure compliance with health and safety, audit and risk management requirements.

Requirements

You will be a proactive and customer-focused IT professional with experience supporting users and maintaining secure, reliable IT infrastructure. You will demonstrate a strong technical background across servers, networks, cyber security and end-user support, combined with excellent communication and organisational skills.

You will bring:

A minimum NVQ Level 4 qualification in Information Technology (or equivalent experience).

A network, infrastructure or security certification, or a willingness to work towards one.

A recognised cyber security qualification, such as CompTIA Security+ or Microsoft SC-200, or equivalent experience.

Experience providing IT support within a service desk or ticketing environment and working to agreed service levels.

Experience installing, configuring and supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments, storage solutions and virtualisation platforms such as VMware.

Experience managing software updates, patching and vulnerability remediation across servers and end-user devices.

Knowledge of network infrastructure, including switched networks, wireless technologies, VLANs and network design principles.

Experience working with security technologies such as endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication, email security and web filtering.

Experience of IT asset management throughout the full lifecycle, from procurement and deployment to secure disposal.

An understanding of cyber security frameworks such as Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001, together with UK GDPR requirements.

Experience supporting security incident investigations and remediation activities.

Knowledge of Windows-based server applications and VoIP telephony systems.
