Job description

We are building a cutting-edge ecosystem for Docusign that will empower developers to seamlessly integrate and extend Docusign’s features and applications by implementing custom APIs. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading medium to large initiatives and scaling the Developer and Extend platform - Strategic Al Initiatives, ensuring that it is robust, secure, and easy to use for builders looking to plug into Docusign’s growing IAM ecosystem. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the organization, driving platform architecture and feature development. Your work will impact multiple engineering and product teams as you lead the development of the platform’s foundational features. Additionally, guiding architectural decisions, and managing incident response processes that require being on rotational on-call, and coordination both within the team and other teams within the organization.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Software Engineering.

Responsibility

  • Design and optimize secure and scalable systems, including queueing architectures, NoSQL, and SQL storage systems, to handle the diverse needs of the ecosystem
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and high performance within the engineering team
  • Create secure, efficient backend services and agents in Javascript or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Develop and maintain feedback loops for your Al Agents
  • Work directly with customers and internal teams to understand needs and iterate quickly
  • Adapt quickly to new technologies, coding languages and domains
  • Raise issues proactively that might impact delivery commitments
  • Participate in Agile environments using Scrum software development practices, automated unit testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and version control systems (Git)

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software development experience, with a focus on cloud platforms and large-scale systems
  • Experience with Azure services, queueing systems, SQL databases (e.g., Azure SQL Database, SQL Server) and NoSQL solutions (e.g., CosmosDB)
  • Experience with NodeJS, C#, Java, C++, or Go
  • Experience building Al Agents and prompt engineering
  • Experience using Al-assisted development tools (e.g., LLMs for coding assistance, code generation) to accelerate software delivery
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL APIs, and microservices architecture and APIs at scale
  • Experience developing software solutions using object-oriented methodologies and design patterns

Preferred

  • Knowledge and experience in high scale, highly available systems
  • 3+ years professional experience building complex, scalable applications
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Curiosity and ability to learn new technologies and tool sets
  • Experience with NodeJS technology stack and various databases
  • Familiarity with Microservice architecture
  • Experience with Cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure or AWS
  • Care deeply about writing high-performance, reusable code for components that will be used across our product

Benefits & conditions

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $164,700.00 - $266,000.00 base salary

Washington: $158,300.00 - $232,575.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for the following:

  • Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
  • Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
