Job description

The GM Quality Connected Customer Continuous Improvement team is seeking a data scientist to support digital transformation and AI enablement efforts. The individual will work as a member of a team with deep experience in GM’s quality issue management and warranty systems. The individual will bring a data science toolkit and innovative spirit to generate ideas and execute projects that improve overall efficiency of quality business processes. The work will generally consist of listening to/framing stakeholder problems, creation of new data pipelines, building of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) solutions, and development of accompanying user interfaces that enable implementation of solutions for direct decision support., + Work as a member of a cross-functional team to propose and implement high-impact data driven analytic solutions that address challenges for quality teams.

  • Apply Data Science and Modeling techniques to drive data driven decision making and solve complex problems: o Build predictive/prescriptive models and machine-learning algorithms o Analyze large amounts of diverse information to discover trends and patterns o Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data o Monitor and sustain model effectiveness o Present complex information using data visualization techniques

  • Work with diverse technical teams to provide analytical dataset pipelines and user interfaces to ensure project deliverables fulfill business needs and timing
  • Create technical documents for models and processes
  • Present complex information using data visualization techniques and data storytelling
  • Create repeatable and scalable code and processes for improving development/execution efficiency., This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Data Science, Analytics, Operations Research, Engineering, Business, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or another quantitative field
  • 2 years of experience as a Data Scientist, or related
  • Experience with developing, deploying, and monitoring performance of large analytic data sets or machine learning based models
  • Tool Proficiencies: o Python or similar coding languages o SQL, Spark, or similar querying languages o Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools o DataBricks or similar Data Lake technology platforms

  • Capable of working with diverse technical teams to produce analytical datasets for analysis
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects at once without sacrificing quality
  • Strong listening and communications skills
  • Highly collaborative work style
  • Ability to evaluate the big picture and provide meaningful business insights and actions

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Domain knowledge of quality processes & data (issue management, warranty reduction, warranty recovery, and similar)
  • Experience building agents and automation within the Atlassian toolsuite
  • Master’s/Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
