Job description

You are an experienced product designer who combines strong craft with a lean, data-informed way of working. For one of our clients, a large international retail and technology organisation, you design customer- and colleague-facing digital products across web, app and internal tools.

Embedded in cross-functional product teams, you contribute hands-on from discovery and problem framing through prototyping and validation to final UI design and delivery. You move iteratively, test early and focus on measurable outcomes rather than heavy documentation, and you bring the AI literacy to design both with AI tools and for AI-enabled products.

Your tasks

  • Own UX/UI design workstreams for selected digital products and features, from discovery to delivery.
  • Apply Lean UX principles: work in small iterations, use lightweight artefacts, validate assumptions early and improve continuously based on feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data/AI and business stakeholders to clarify user needs, pain points, business goals, hypotheses and success metrics.
  • Design user journeys, information architecture, flows and interaction concepts across web, app and internal tools.
  • Create wireframes, low- and high-fidelity prototypes and polished UI designs with strong attention to usability, accessibility, hierarchy, layout and visual clarity.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative insights such as funnels, experiments, dashboards, user tests and feedback to inform design decisions and iterations.
  • Shape AI- and data-enabled features such as search, recommendations, personalisation, assistants or smart tooling, with a focus on transparency, user control and trust.
  • Use AI-assisted tools for ideation, variants, UX copy, localisation, research synthesis or prototyping, and critically evaluate and refine their output.
  • Contribute to design system usage, reusable patterns and guidelines to ensure consistency across platforms and teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, design reviews and alignment sessions, and communicate design decisions clearly to stakeholders and delivery teams.

Requirements

  • 6+ years UX/UI or product design experience for digital products, ideally across web, app or internal tools in agile environments.
  • A strong portfolio showing end-to-end product design from problem framing to shipped solutions, including complex flows, interaction design, visual quality and measurable user or business impact.
  • Proven Lean UX experience: hypothesis-driven work, rapid prototyping, iterative validation and a focus on outcomes and learning.
  • High proficiency in Figma and modern design workflows, including components, variants, design systems, interactive prototypes and structured handoff.
  • Strong research and validation skills, from usability tests and interviews to surveys, concept tests and experiment evaluation.
  • Confidence in working with data: you interpret quantitative product data, research findings and user feedback to guide design decisions.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility, usability heuristics, responsive design and platform-specific considerations.
  • AI literacy and practical experience with AI tools in your design workflow, combined with the judgment to assess quality, risks and user impact.
  • Experience designing AI- and data-enabled product experiences is a strong plus.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills; you explain your rationale clearly and influence decisions constructively.
  • You work independently while integrating smoothly into an international, cross-functional team.
  • Fluent English; German is a plus.

Benefits & conditions

  • A central role in a dynamic, independent design consultancy with an international portfolio spanning enterprise product design, city identity, design systems, and regulated industries
  • Direct access to partners and senior leadership - flat hierarchies, real autonomy, and room to shape how we do product strategy
  • A dedicated team of high-profile designers and strategists driven by a no-ego, high-craft culture
  • Personal responsibility, space for your own ideas, and the opportunity to grow with the company and the practice
  • 30 days paid vacation, hybrid work, and a dog-friendly Berlin office
  • Work-life balance support including a potential four-day week if needed
  • Benefits including Urban Sports Club, food club, and ESPI cuisine
  • Regular team gatherings and in-house coaching and mentoring
