Artificial Intelligence Data Analysis Machine Learning Software Engineering Large Language Models Deep Learning Virtual Agents

Job description

Would you like to work with complex data and bridge cutting-edge AI with domain research?

Research Data Scientists (also known as AI Engineer, Data Scientist, Machine Learning Specialist, Computational Statistician):

  • Conduct collaborative research to extract knowledge and insight from datasets using a variety of mathematical, statistical and computational approaches.
  • Develop software and scripts to implement these analyses in robust and reproducible ways.
  • Work with research infrastructure developers to deploy these to production.

You will, in all subject areas, provide data science expertise and services to world-leading research teams, training researchers in best practices, and working with scientists and scholars to build workflows, analyses and software to meet new research challenges. With such a varied job we don’t expect our candidates to know it all from the start. It is an excellent opportunity to develop new skills, spending time to study both the research areas we support and the specialist technologies applied

Requirements

We are specifically looking for candidates with hands on experience in Agentic AI and LLMs, as well strong background in mathematics and understanding of deep learning architectures.

The successful applicant will also have experience of analysing, researching, and solving complex computational data analysis problems. You will be able to communicate well with researchers, and present complex or technical information to a range of stakeholders. A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience is required according to seniority.

We are looking for candidates who have addressed complex data science problems in at least one field, but more importantly, who can build an understanding of new scientific questions, and see how to translate research needs to technology requirements. We are deeply committed to data science best practices and their application in research contexts. You should share our enthusiasm for reproducible, reliable computational research, and be able to help to spread that to our research community.

In addition, ARC aims to help you develop your own research ideas in data science and connected areas. You will be able to set up research initiatives, bid for funding, exchange/collaborate within ARC themes across a range of novel digital research.

Benefits & conditions

As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits some of which are below:

  • 41 Days holiday (27 days annual leave 8 bank holiday and 6 closure days)
  • Additional 5 days’ annual leave purchase scheme
  • Defined benefit career average revalued earnings pension scheme (CARE)
  • Cycle to work scheme and season ticket loan
  • Immigration loan
  • Relocation scheme for certain posts
  • On-Site nursery
  • On-site gym
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay
  • Employee assistance programme: Staff Support Service
  • Discounted medical insurance

About the company
