Job description

We are recruiting an Electronic Systems Design Engineer for VITEC’s Hardware department. You will join the Electronic Systems Design team, whose role is to specify, design, integrate and validate the electronic platforms for our products.

The main responsibilities are as follows :

Design & technical expertise

  • Undertake the complete design of complex electronic boards and modules

(specification, schematic, PCB tracking, validation) working entirely independently;

  • Participate in the bring-up, debugging and fault analysis phases;
  • Integrate DFM/DFT, EMC, thermal and industrial constraints;

System Architecture & Vision

  • Take technical responsibility for functional subsystems or product features;
  • Contribute to defining and evaluating hardware architectures;
  • Analyse the impact of technical choices on product usage, software/FPGA and industrialisation.

Contribution to project decision-making

  • Identify and anticipate key technical risks;
  • Propose and compare alternative technical options;
  • Provide a reasoned analysis of trade-offs between cost, time, risk and robustness;
  • Participate in critical design reviews with a cross-functional perspective;
  • Provide technical insight to the HW Tech Lead to support decision-making.

Technical leadership

  • Act as a recognised technical authority within your remit;
  • Share your expertise and mentor less experienced engineers;
  • Promote clear, factual and constructive technical communication.
  • Work closely with the software, mechanical and industrialisation teams.

Requirements

You have a five-year technical degree and at least eight years’ proven experience in the design and development of complex electronic systems. Skills in the field of video would be an advantage.

The skills required for the role are :

  • Excellent command of schematic design and PCB constraints
  • Solid knowledge of EMC, industrial constraints and validation
  • Ability to take a step back and think at a system level
  • Confidence in making decisions and technical trade-offs within a project context
  • Knowledge of FPGA and VHDL development would be an advantage
  • Independence, rigour and a team spirit
  • Given our company’s international environment, fluency in technical English (reading, speaking and writing) is essential for this role.
