Job description
Your new company
You will be joining a major utilities organisation responsible for delivering essential water services to customers across the region. The business is investing in the resilience, performance and long-term development of its clean water distribution network, with a strong focus on customer service, asset reliability, operational risk and regulatory compliance.
Your new role
As Network Analyst, you will provide technical leadership, modelling assurance and network governance across the clean water distribution system. Reporting to the Hydraulic Modelling Manager, you will act as a technical custodian for the network, helping to ensure that operational, developer services and capital investment decisions are supported by robust modelling outputs and sound hydraulic analysis.
You will be responsible for assessing network performance, identifying operational and long-term strategic risks, reviewing hydraulic and surge modelling outputs, and providing assurance on decisions that affect capacity, resilience, water quality and customer service. The role will involve close collaboration with operational teams, planning, asset management, capital delivery and developer services stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a technical custodian for the clean water distribution network, supporting safe, efficient and resilient network operation.
- Provide senior technical assurance for hydraulic, operational and surge modelling outputs.
- Review and approve modelling work that supports capital investment, operational planning and developer services decisions.
- Identify risks relating to network capacity, resilience, asset performance, water quality and customer service.
- Ensure modelling methodologies and outputs are technically robust, accurate and aligned to internal standards.
- Support root-cause investigations relating to bursts, pressure issues, supply interruptions and water quality incidents.
- Analyse asset risk, reliability data and operational performance information to inform effective decision-making.
- Provide technical input into outage planning, ensuring network capacity and resilience are maintained.
- Work with internal stakeholders across operations, planning, developer services, asset management and capital delivery.
- Translate complex technical information into clear recommendations and practical operational actions.
- Provide out-of-hours support as part of a standby rota when required.
What you’ll need to succeed
- A higher national diploma, degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, science or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within the water industry, ideally in an asset management, operational, analytical or network modelling role.
- Strong working knowledge of clean water distribution networks and associated assets.
- Understanding of hydraulic principles, water service delivery and the factors that affect customer levels of service.
- Experience using hydraulic modelling and/or GIS packages.
- Experience in hydraulic model build, calibration or design would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of Synergi or similar water network modelling software would be beneficial.
- Ability to interpret asset risk, reliability and operational data.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical approach to technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- A full current UK driving licence.
- Professional membership or accreditation with a relevant body such as IW, ICE or CIWEM would be desirable. What you’ll get in return
You will join an organisation delivering essential infrastructure services and play a key role in protecting customers, assets and network resilience. This is an opportunity to apply your technical modelling and clean water network knowledge in a role with genuine operational impact, long-term investment visibility and strong stakeholder engagement across the business.
