Job description

We are currently looking for an IT Support Technician to join an Academy in the Bracknell area, providing practical and responsive IT support to staff across the school.

This role would be particularly well suited to someone at the early stages of their IT career who wants to build their experience in a professional environment. More experienced candidates who are happy to work at the rate offered are also welcome to apply.

What will you be doing?

You will help keep the Academy’s day-to-day IT operations running smoothly, providing technical assistance to staff and resolving common IT issues as they arise.

Your responsibilities could include:

  • Acting as a first point of contact for staff IT queries
  • Diagnosing and resolving day-to-day technical issues
  • Supporting staff with laptops, desktops and other devices
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software problems
  • Assisting with Microsoft 365
  • Supporting user accounts, logins, passwords and permissions
  • Setting up equipment for new members of staff
  • Installing and configuring software
  • Supporting printers and other connected devices
  • Assisting with classroom technology and interactive displays
  • Identifying basic network or connectivity issues
  • Maintaining IT equipment and ensuring devices are working correctly
  • Logging technical issues and keeping appropriate records
  • Escalating more complex problems when required
  • Providing clear and helpful technical guidance to staff

Requirements

Do you enjoy solving IT problems and helping others get the most out of technology?

Are you looking for a hands-on IT role where you can develop your technical experience while providing valuable support to a busy team?, We are looking for someone with a good foundation in IT who is keen to put their knowledge into practice and continue developing their skills.

Applicants must hold a minimum Level 1 qualification in IT or a relevant IT-related subject.

You may have gained your experience through previous employment, an apprenticeship, college, work experience or another IT support environment.

Knowledge or experience of the following would be beneficial:

  • Windows operating systems
  • Microsoft 365
  • PC and laptop troubleshooting
  • Hardware and software installation
  • User accounts and access
  • Printers and peripheral devices
  • Basic networking
  • IT helpdesk or technical support
  • Providing IT assistance to colleagues

Previous experience within education is beneficial but not essential., * Qualified to at least Level 1 in IT or a relevant subject

This is a brilliant opportunity to gain hands-on IT experience within an Academy, working with a range of systems and equipment while supporting staff with their everyday technology needs.

The position will initially be 2-3 days per week, with the possibility of increasing to a full working week depending on rates and the Academy’s requirements.
