Job description
The Configuration Technician will be responsible for configuring, imaging, testing, and preparing computer systems for deployment.
IMPORTANT: This position involves working with secure hardware provided by a government contractor; therefore, U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
What You’ll Do:
- Configure and image laptops, desktops, and server systems
- Install operating systems and software packages
- Image both new and repurposed computers
- Install and integrate computer hardware components
- Troubleshoot laptops and desktops that are not operational upon receipt
- Inspect and diagnose returned computers and peripherals
- Complete post-imaging tasks, including renaming systems and joining domains
- Follow established imaging and configuration procedures
- Create and apply asset tags to computer equipment
- Unpack and prepare equipment for configuration
- Verify materials and part numbers and report any discrepancies
- Perform daily quality checks to ensure orders are accurate
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Requirements
This is a great entry-level IT opportunity for someone with at least 1 year of related computer/technical experience who enjoys hands-on work with laptops, desktops, servers, and computer hardware., U.S. Citizenship - Required 1+ year of related computer/technical experience Familiarity with computer operating systems Comfortable working with laptops, desktops, hardware, and software installations Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures Dependable with a strong work ethic Team-oriented and able to multitask Good communication and problem-solving skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain on your feet throughout the shift Dell Laptop/Desktop Repair Certification - a plus A+ and Network+ (N+) Certification - a plus, * High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year of relevant experience
- Basic knowledge of computer operating systems and hardware
- U.S. Citizenship: Required
- Must be able to work on-site in Plano, TX
- Must be available Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Work Environment:
This is a fully on-site position in Plano, TX involving hands-on computer configuration, imaging, hardware setup, troubleshooting, and quality control.
Candidates should be comfortable working on their feet throughout the shift and handling computer equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
