Job description

Take ownership of the existing middleware, stabilise it, and begin replacing it with a cleaner, sustainable solution built around modern data tooling (Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or equivalent, plus SQL and Power BI).

Phase 2 (ongoing): Expand to include reporting.

Once the core system is stable, the role broadens into wider business reporting, including building and owning an Executive Suite reporting pack. This requires strong stakeholder engagement skills to gather requirements from senior stakeholders across the business.

Simultaneous:

Bring Data Hub and Data Warehouse closer in design standards.

Must-haves:

  • Strong SQL
  • Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Synapse, or similar modern data platform experience
  • Power BI (building and owning reports/dashboards, not just consuming)
  • Comfortable working with ambiguous, undocumented systems and untangling them
  • Confident communicator, able to work directly with senior stakeholders

Requirements

  • Microsoft certifications such as Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700), Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600), Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300), or Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900).
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, including PySpark and Spark SQL, used across our
  • Microsoft Fabric data platform.
  • Experience with ERP/finance systems data (NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics, etc.)
  • Experience picking up and fixing another team’s/vendor’s build

Reporting line: Reports to a remote-first manager; role itself has flexibility on office attendance, ideal candidates within reach of Gloucester (3 days/wk).
