Job description

Commitment: Initially part-time / alongside an existing role, with the intention to move full-time following funding Compensation: Meaningful equity during the pre-revenue stage, with salary commencing following our pre-seed round

We are an early-stage UK insurtech building a technology-led platform designed to modernise how SMEs understand, manage and insure business risk.

We are looking for an ambitious CTO / Technical Co-Founder to join the founding team and take ownership of the technology as we move from early MVP into customer testing and commercial launch.

The company has already developed an early MVP, secured initial businesses for product testing and established relationships across the insurance ecosystem.

We were also selected as a final 20 company from 225 applicants for Lloyd’s Lab in 2026 and have since been accepted into a leading international accelerator programme focused on risk and technology, beginning in October 2026.

The Role

This is a hands-on founding role rather than a traditional corporate CTO position.

You will:

  • Take ownership of our existing early MVP and lead its continued development
  • Define the technical architecture and product roadmap
  • Build and iterate rapidly based on customer feedback
  • Develop integrations with third-party platforms and data sources
  • Help build data-driven and AI-enabled product functionality
  • Ensure the platform is secure, scalable and suitable for a financial-services environment
  • Make key decisions around infrastructure, architecture and engineering
  • Build and lead the engineering team as the company grows
  • Work closely with the founders across product, strategy and fundraising, This is an opportunity to join at a stage where you can have genuine ownership and influence over the product, technology and direction of the company.

Requirements

Ideally, you have:

  • Strong full-stack development experience
  • Experience building and launching web applications or SaaS products
  • Experience taking a product from MVP to production
  • Strong knowledge of APIs, integrations and modern cloud architecture
  • Experience working with data-heavy products
  • A solid understanding of AI/LLMs and their practical application
  • Strong awareness of security, data privacy and scalable system design
  • Excellent problem-solving and product-thinking skills
  • The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and genuine interest in joining as a co-founder rather than simply an employee

Experience in fintech, insurtech, insurance, e-commerce or financial services is advantageous but not essential.

A history of building side projects, startups or products independently is a strong plus.

Benefits & conditions

  • An early MVP
  • Initial businesses ready to test the product
  • Strong insurance and industry relationships
  • Experienced founders and advisors
  • Recognition from Lloyd’s Lab
  • Acceptance into a leading international accelerator programme
  • A clear path toward fundraising and commercial launch

We’re looking for someone technically excellent, highly entrepreneurial and excited by the opportunity to help build an ambitious technology company within insurance and financial services.

Pay: From £48,217.11 per year
