Job description
The Role: IT Technician - 12 Months Fixed Term Contract, * The IT Technician provides first and second-line technical support across the Medichecks Group, helping to ensure that IT services, devices, systems, and user access are secure, reliable and well-maintained.
- The role supports day-to-day service delivery, device configuration, user administration, asset management, IT purchasing administration, documentation, and compliance activities under the direction of the IT Support Manager and IT Lead.
Key Challenges
- Providing responsive, high-quality IT support to colleagues across office-based, hybrid, and remote working environments.
- Balancing day-to-day incidents, service requests, device builds, access changes, procurement administration, and documentation updates while maintaining accurate records and following agreed IT processes.
- Supporting secure and consistent configuration of devices, applications, user access, and core IT platforms across the Medichecks Group.
- Supporting IT purchasing and supplier administration in an environment without a dedicated procurement function, ensuring hardware, software, licensing, and asset records are managed accurately and in line with approval processes.
- Contributing to operational compliance activities, including patching, vulnerability remediation,asset management, audit evidence, and process documentation.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide onsite and remote IT support for colleagues across the Medichecks Group.
- Respond to IT incidents and service requests, escalating complex issues to the IT Support Manager where required.
- Support starters, leavers, movers, access requests, hardware requests, software requests, and general user administration.
- Configure, deploy, and maintain laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, AV equipment, and related software.
- Support Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, endpoint security tools, and other core IT platforms as required.
- Assist with application deployment, device compliance, patching, and configuration management.
- Maintain accurate asset records, including hardware allocation, returns, warranty information, and lifecycle updates.
- Support IT purchasing and supplier administration, including raising requisitions, obtaining quotes, maintaining supplier portal access, coordinating goods receipt checks, and ensuring hardware, software, licensing, warranty, and asset records are kept accurate.
- Escalate purchasing decisions, supplier issues, contract queries, or non-standard requests to the IT Support Manager or IT Lead.
- Assist with office IT tasks, including desk setups, network patching, meeting room equipment, and local troubleshooting.
- Monitor routine IT alerts, backup notifications, endpoint health, and vulnerability information, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Follow change control, information security, purchasing, and data protection procedures.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, standard change records, and user guidance.
- Support audit and compliance activities by maintaining records and providing operational evidence when required.
- Complete required business training and maintain ongoing professional development.
Requirements
Technical support:
- Experience in an IT support, service desk, or technician role.
- Good working knowledge of Windows, macOS, iOS, Microsoft 365, and common business applications.
- Experience supporting end-user devices, printers, mobile devices, peripherals, and meeting room equipment.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switching, wireless, and network patching.
Cloud and endpoint administration:
- Experience or working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration.
- Familiarity with Intune, Entra ID, endpoint management, device compliance, and application deployment.
- Awareness of endpoint security tools, patching, vulnerability management, and device monitoring.
Service delivery, purchasing and documentation:
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a logical and methodical approach.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to raise purchase requisitions, obtaining quotes, liaising with suppliers, or administering supplier portals.
- Experience maintaining SOPs, Work Instructions, technical notes, asset records, procurement records, or user guides.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical colleagues
Compliance and security awareness:
- Awareness of information security, data protection, and operational compliance requirements.
- Understanding of the importance of secure configuration, access control, audit evidence, purchasing controls, and asset management.
- Willingness to follow agreed processes, including change control, incident management, procurement, and information security procedures.
Certifications
Essential:
- Relevant IT experience or training demonstrating technical competence.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in IT systems, support, networking, Microsoft 365, or endpoint management.
Desirable:
- Microsoft 365, Intune, Endpoint Administrator, or Azure/Entra-related certification.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+.
- ITIL Foundation or awareness of IT service management principles.
- Awareness of ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, and UK GDPR.
