Job description

As a Senior Principal System Development Engineer, you will be part of the end-to-end development of next-generation Network L10 switches and L11 rack-level solutions for hyperscale, cloud, and AI infrastructure. Working in a fast-paced environment where innovation, technical leadership, and execution excellence are highly valued, you will drive product strategy, architecture, and delivery from concept through production. You will collaborate across hardware, firmware, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to develop scalable, high-performance networking solutions while ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer requirements, and technology roadmaps.

You will:

  • Drive end-to-end development and delivery of Network L10 switch platforms and L11 rack-level solutions, including product definition, architecture, integration, qualification, production release, and sustaining activities
  • Define and drive system architecture and interface requirements across hardware, firmware, cabling, optics, power, thermal, and rack infrastructure to deliver scalable, high-performance networking solutions
  • Develop and execute system validation, test, and diagnostic strategies; design test methods, fixtures, procedures, and troubleshooting approaches to ensure product quality, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, validation plans, inspection procedures, and platform management requirements to ensure alignment with product, quality, and supportability objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, ODMs, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to resolve complex technical issues, manage program risks, and accelerate product delivery throughout the lifecycle

Requirements

If you’re energized by solving complex systems challenges, excited to work alongside AI to amplify your impact, and motivated by the opportunity to shape what’s next instead of simply maintaining what’s been done before, you’ll find your place here., * 15+ years of experience in networking system development, including L10 switch platforms and L11 rack-level solutions supporting 100G, 400G, 800G, and next-generation Ethernet technologies.

  • Strong understanding of network switch architectures, including Intel x86 processors, Broadcom ASICs, PHY devices, platform management controllers, and overall system-level design and integration.
  • Deep knowledge of hardware and firmware interactions, system bring-up, platform validation, debugging, and root-cause analysis across complex networking products.
  • Proven ability to lead system definition, integration, qualification, and deployment activities while driving technical decisions across cross-functional engineering teams and external partners.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical direction, communicate across organizational levels, and balance technical and business objectives.

Desirable Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers while fostering a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture.

Benefits & conditions

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $198k - $272k.

About the company

Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) builds the products that power infrastructure, solutions, and data management our customers need most. Our teams design and develop the hardware and software that connect infrastructure, accelerate computational workloads, integrate across the stack, protect data continuity, and deliver the platforms, applications, and diagnostics our customers rely on every day at enterprise scale.

Some product builders follow the rules. Ours rewrite them.

Within ISG, innovation isn’t just about creating new technology- it’s about challenging assumptions and reimagining how work gets done. Engineers define intent, author precise specifications, and orchestrate AI agents that execute at speed and scale. AI is embedded throughout our development process, helping us move faster, learn quicker, and deliver greater impact. Yet the most important contribution remains uniquely human: deciding what to build, designing how it should work, and applying the judgment needed to earn our customers’ trust. When your products power critical infrastructure around the world, that responsibility matters.

We move quickly toward the work that matters most. We reward experimentation, encourage bold thinking, and remove unnecessary barriers so great ideas can become reality faster. Our teams embrace a customer-first, first-to-market mindset, transforming rapid feedback into better products and better outcomes. We aren’t looking for people who are content with the status quo- we look for builders who question it, improve it, and occasionally rewrite it.
