Job description

The Group MIS/Software Administrator & ICT Technician will be responsible for providing assistance to the Group ICT Manager in all aspects of ICT from hardware/software provision to trouble-shooting problems and record keeping., * Troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing faults not requiring maintenance contractor visits.

  • Configuring items of equipment according to instructions.
  • Unpacking and installing ICT equipment such as new computers and peripherals, and enter all new equipment into assets register.
  • Updating software and hardware asset registers to maintain an accurate ongoing log of all equipment.
  • Liaising with suppliers or contractors in fixing simple faults that do not require site visits.
  • Reporting faults to Managed Service Supplier or maintenance contractor.
  • Giving classroom support for basic operation of computers, peripherals and software.
  • Installing new software onto stand-alone desktops.
  • Installing and testing software for use across a network.
  • Providing technical support to staff as required.
  • Training staff on the use of general-purpose and office-related programs/applications.
  • Sourcing/researching new software and equipment.
  • Setting up new interactive whiteboards/projectors.
  • Helping to lay network cables.
  • Installing projectors and interactive whiteboards.
  • Liaising with external support companies when necessary.

Management Information Systems and other Software Administration Responsibilities:

  • To be the main point of contact for the Oak-Tree Group’s MIS and other software queries.
  • To be proficient in all aspects of the use of Engage and have the ability to learn other pupil software as appropriate.
  • To help ensure that all staff are trained in the use of Engage and other software packages as appropriate.
  • To ensure that permissions given to staff in the use of the applications are compliant with GDPR.
  • To help create complex reports and end data analysis.
  • To ensure that robust processes are in place for quality data management.
  • To manage and prioritise all Oak-Tree Group Engage help desk requests.
  • To implement, review and improve data processes to support Oak-Tree Group staff in delivering their roles.
  • To provide strategic and operational support to each of the Oak-Tree Schools with Engage and MIS end user support.
  • To lead the support for the Oak-Tree Schools with configuration and set up of Engage software and other Software Applications where applicable.
  • To manage software contracts and licenses for Engage across the Oak-Tree Group.
  • To undertake the annual rollovers as required for each new academic year in a timely manner through effective liaison with each relative office/department.
  • To undertake development and the identification, investigation and resolution of technical and systems access incidents across all MIS and other software systems.
  • To minimise disruption to users’ workflow by resolving problems immediately where possible, using own initiative to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • To deal independently with tasks, projects and workload, escalating when appropriate.
  • To establish and maintain effective oral and written communications with customers and users of the Group IT services and to inform users, both at an individual call status level and at school level, of service expectations.
  • To enhance the IT services function by suggesting new policies and procedures.
  • To provide a high level of customer service and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Good standard of education - attainment of GCSE or equivalent to include English or Maths Grade C or above.
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • High level of IT proficiency including accurate typing and keyboard skills.
  • High level of discretion, understanding of and experience of maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (including telephone manner). Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences including staff, governors and pupils.
  • Good communication skills to liaise effectively with a range of colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, understanding staff roles, responsibilities and your own position within these.
  • Ability to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
  • Ability to comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, data protection and equal opportunities.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a school environment.
  • First Aid qualification.

Benefits & conditions

Core hours are from 8.15am until 4.30pm daily Mondays to Fridays throughout the year with 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays. Free school lunches during term times are included, as is comprehensive training and company pension. The position is to start in November, and attracts an initial salary of £31,000 pa.

About the company

The Oak-Tree Group has three schools in Loughton, North Chingford and Epping with many buildings, ICT suites, offices and classrooms. The central ICT Team supports around 250 employees within the Group and around 800 students.
