Job description
We are seeking a friendly, proactive and technically capable Secondary School IT Technician to join our team at a large secondary school in Bournemouth.
This is an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of a busy school community, providing hands-on technical support to staff and students while working closely with the school’s dedicated Network Manager, who will provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and technical escalation support.
The successful candidate will be based on-site and will play a key role in ensuring technology services remain reliable, secure and effective across the school.
You will be passionate about delivering outstanding customer service, have strong technical troubleshooting skills, and enjoy building positive relationships with both technical and non-technical users.
About the Role
As the school’s IT Technician, you will provide first and second-line support across a wide range of technologies, helping staff and students make the most of their IT systems.
Working under the guidance of the onsite Network Manager, you will support the school’s IT infrastructure, classroom technology, devices and cloud services whilst ensuring incidents and requests are managed professionally and efficiently.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. One moment you could be supporting a classroom, and the next deploying devices, troubleshooting network issues or assisting with the delivery of IT improvement projects., * Provide first and second-line IT support to teaching and support staff
- Support classroom technology, interactive displays and AV equipment
- Maintain and troubleshoot Windows devices, laptops and desktop computers
- Assist with Microsoft 365 administration and user management
- Support Active Directory, printing systems and school applications
- Configure and deploy new laptops, desktops and mobile devices
- Assist with server, network and wireless infrastructure support
- Manage incidents and service requests through Oakford’s service desk systems
- Monitor systems and respond to alerts generated by monitoring platforms
- Escalate issues appropriately to the Network Manager or central technical teams
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and asset records
- Support IT projects and technology improvements across the school
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times
Requirements
- Experience in an IT support, MSP or education IT environment
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows 11
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
- Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, switching and wireless networking
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, organised and self-motivated approach
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport
- Successful Enhanced DBS clearance (Company will pay for and obtain)
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a school or college environment
- Knowledge of safeguarding requirements within education
- Experience supporting Apple devices
- Microsoft, CompTIA or relevant technical certifications

Pay: £24,800.00-£26,000.00 per year
