We are looking for an experienced Scala Engineer to play a key role in upgrading applications from Play Framework 2.8 to Play 3.0, modernising services, and implementing the System across customer-facing portals. This is primarily a hands-on software engineering role with a strong focus on Scala development rather than cloud infrastructure, although the applications are hosted within AWS.

Essential Skills

• Strong commercial experience with Scala
• Experience developing applications using the Play Framework
• Knowledge of Play 2.8 to Play 3.0 migrations/upgrades
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and web applications
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams
• Ability to work in complex public sector or enterprise environments

Desirable Skills

• AWS-hosted application development
• Experience within government or highly regulated environments
• CI/CD and modern software engineering practices
• Front-end development experience

• £500 - £600 p/d Inside IR35 (Depending on level)
• Remote Working
• 6 month+ contract
