Job description

The Manager, Software Development leads a team of engineers responsible for delivering roadmap initiatives. This role combines people management, delivery ownership, technical review, and hands-on engineering support. The manager partners with product, architecture, scrum, and business analysis teams to clarify requirements, guide technical decisions within established architecture, and support release readiness for AI governance and platform capabilities. A Typical Day in the Life Includes:

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of software engineers and QA associates, including hiring, performance support, and career development.
  • Review code, technical designs, and implementation plans to support delivery quality and alignment with architecture guidance.
  • Contribute directly through prototyping, pairing, troubleshooting, or removing blockers when needed.
  • Own sprint- and release-level delivery for roadmap items within the team’s initiative area.
  • Make technical trade-off decisions within established architecture and escalate cross-cutting or platform-level decisions to the Software Architect.
  • Support delivery of AI governance or platform features across capabilities such as explainability, observability, and prevention.
  • Partner with the Scrum Master and Business Analyst to support team process, requirements clarity, and delivery readiness.

Requirements

  • Experience managing a software engineering team, including hiring, performance support, and career development.
  • Experience reviewing technical designs, code, and engineering work products.
  • Ability to contribute directly to engineering work through code review, prototyping, troubleshooting, or pairing.
  • Experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, AWS Kiro, OpenAI Codex, or comparable tools.
  • Experience with Python-based services and full-stack development using Angular or comparable front-end frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services such as Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, or EKS, and experience reviewing cloud-based technical designs.
  • Familiarity with AI concepts, responsible AI use, and evaluating AI-generated outputs before relying on them. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a regulated, compliance-focused, or governance-sensitive product domain.
  • Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or comparable agentic AI frameworks.
  • Experience supporting AI governance, model observability, explainability, or risk prevention capabilities.
  • Experience partnering with architecture, product, scrum, and business analysis teams.
  • Experience supporting release readiness for cloud-based or AI-enabled software products.
  • Experience guiding technical trade-off decisions within established architecture.
  • Experience building or supporting platforms that use Anthropic Claude API, MCP, or comparable AI services.
