Job description

  • Maintain and update the Local Land & Property Gazetteer (LLPG) and Local Street Gazetteer (LSG) in line with statutory requirements
  • Manage and maintain the Council’s address databases, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with national standards
  • Create, update, and plot new streets and developments within the gazetteer system
  • Submit daily updates to GeoPlace and ensure compliance with LLPG/LSG standards and data quality requirements
  • Liaise with GeoPlace and Ordnance Survey to ensure data integrity, compliance, and awareness of system updates and best practice
  • Provide GIS and mapping support to internal council services, including spatial data analysis and map production
  • Produce map overlays for service needs such as school catchment areas, administrative boundaries, and road traffic accident hotspots
  • Respond to internal and external enquiries relating to addressing, street naming and numbering, and GIS data
  • Support council officers, members, the public, and statutory bodies with accurate geographic and addressing information
  • Ensure all data handling and mapping outputs meet organisational and statutory requirements

Requirements

Do you have experience in Quality assurance?, * Proven experience maintaining a Local Land & Property Gazetteer (LLPG) and/or Local Street Gazetteer (LSG)

  • Strong experience working with address management and spatial data systems
  • Experience using GIS software and producing maps, overlays, and spatial analysis outputs
  • Understanding of GeoPlace standards, Ordnance Survey data, and street naming and numbering processes
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to maintain accurate and high-quality datasets
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload to meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills with the ability to deal with internal teams, external agencies, and members of the public
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret spatial and addressing data

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment
  • Familiarity with specific GIS platforms (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS, or equivalent systems)
  • Knowledge of data quality assurance processes within gazetteer systems
  • Experience supporting multiple stakeholders with mapping or spatial information requests
  • Understanding of local government street naming and numbering policies, * maintaining a Local Land & Property Gazetteer (LLPG: 2 years (required)
