Job description

We are seeking an experienced Java Full Stack Developer to join a large-scale technology programme within the financial services sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining modern enterprise applications, working across both backend and frontend technologies in a fast-paced Agile environment.

This role offers the opportunity to work on business-critical systems, leveraging cloud-native technologies, microservices architecture, and modern development practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based microservices using Spring Boot.

  • Build responsive and intuitive front-end applications using Angular or React.

  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs to support enterprise-wide applications and services.

  • Collaborate with business analysts, architects, developers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

  • Ensure application performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.

  • Participate in code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.

  • Support deployment activities and contribute to CI/CD initiatives.

  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide ongoing application support.

  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend continuous improvements.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot.

  • Proven experience developing RESTful APIs and Microservices architectures.

  • Experience with front-end frameworks such as Angular or React.

  • Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.

  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Strong understanding of Git and modern version control practices.

  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

  • Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD tools including Jenkins or GitHub Actions.

  • Understanding of API security frameworks including OAuth2, JWT, and Keycloak.

  • Experience working within Banking, Financial Services, or Capital Markets environments.
