Job description
Commercial Plastics is seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, business systems, and IT support across our multi-site manufacturing organization. As both a strategic leader and hands-on technology partner, you will work closely with Operations, Finance, HR, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to drive innovation, improve business performance, and support future growth.
This role is responsible for standardizing IT practices across all facilities, ensuring reliable and secure technology systems, maximizing ERP and reporting capabilities, and leading technology initiatives that improve efficiency, automation, visibility, and decision-making. The ideal candidate will build and develop a high-performing IT team while serving as a trusted advisor on technology investments, cybersecurity, AI, business intelligence, and digital transformation.
Success in this role means delivering secure and reliable technology solutions, empowering users through exceptional support, driving measurable business improvements through technology, and creating a scalable IT organization that supports Commercial Plastics’ continued growth and operational excellence.

- Develop and execute company-wide technology goals and objectives aligned with company operating and strategic priorities.
- Establish consistent infrastructure, support, cybersecurity, reporting, ERP, networking, and technology standards across all facilities.
- Develop, coach, and hold IT personnel accountable for delivering reliable technology services, infrastructure support, cybersecurity practices, project execution, reporting solutions, and user support.
- Conduct regular reviews of location technology performance, support metrics, cybersecurity posture, infrastructure health, project status, and technology risks.
- Maintain visibility into all technology environments and ensure consistency across company locations.
- Establish measurable technology KPIs and routinely evaluate system performance, project execution, support quality, reporting effectiveness, security posture, and business impact.
- Continuously improve technology services and standardize best practices throughout the organization.
- Prepare and deliver technology reviews, presentations, and updates to executive leadership, ownership, and facility leadership teams.
- Establish and maintain service-level expectations, ticket-management processes, project-tracking systems, and accountability standards for all Information Technology activities.
- Hold Information Technology personnel accountable for timely resolution of support requests, completion of technology projects, maintenance activities, documentation requirements, and communication commitments.
- Conduct regular reviews of open support requests, project status, infrastructure initiatives, automation opportunities, cybersecurity activities, and departmental priorities to ensure commitments are completed and organizational objectives are achieved.
- Participate in facility and company performance reviews and communicate technology priorities, project status, cybersecurity risks, reporting improvements, automation initiatives, and technology-related opportunities and challenges.
Business Technology and Process Improvement
- Partner with all departments to identify opportunities to improve productivity through technology.
- Evaluate existing business processes and recommend automation opportunities.
- Work closely with Operations, Finance, HR, Customer Service, Quality, and Engineering to improve systems and workflows.
- Develop technology strategies that improve efficiency, data visibility, communication, and decision-making.
- Identify and reduce manual data-entry processes and redundant tasks.
- Improve business processes through ERP enhancements, workflow automation, reporting improvements, and technology integration.
- Develop and maintain a technology improvement roadmap that identifies opportunities to improve reporting, automation, communication, cybersecurity, infrastructure reliability, ERP utilization, artificial intelligence initiatives, and overall business performance.
- Evaluate technology initiatives based upon measurable business results and return on investment.
Reporting, Analytics, and Business Intelligence
- Develop and manage company reporting, dashboard, business intelligence, and analytics capabilities.
- Support Crystal Reports, Power BI, SQL reporting, ERP reporting tools, and related reporting technologies.
- Improve data visibility across the organization.
- Work with business users to identify reporting and analytics needs.
- Standardize reporting practices and KPI definitions across departments and locations.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools that improve operational and management decision-making.
- Improve data quality, accessibility, consistency, and reliability.
- Assist leadership teams in leveraging data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Measure and communicate the business impact of reporting, automation, system improvements, and technology investments and make recommendations based on measurable results.
Infrastructure, Systems, and Cybersecurity
- Establish standards and strategies for infrastructure, networking, virtualization, servers, storage, backup systems, cloud services, security tools, and end-user computing.
- Oversee server, virtualization, networking, telecommunications, wireless, and infrastructure environments.
- Ensure reliable backup and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, standards, and best practices.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and technology risks.
- Coordinate infrastructure upgrades, deployments, migrations, and major technology initiatives.
- Maintain vendor relationships and technology partnerships.
- Ensure company technology environments remain secure, reliable, scalable, and supportable.
ERP Systems and Business Applications
- Provide leadership and oversight for ERP systems and associated applications.
- Work with business users to improve ERP processes, workflows, reporting, data visibility, and system utilization.
- Identify opportunities to better leverage ERP capabilities and related technologies.
- Support system integrations and business application improvements.
- Ensure business systems align with operational and reporting requirements.
Technology Planning and Investments
- Develop long-term technology roadmaps aligned with company objectives.
- Evaluate capital investments involving infrastructure, software, reporting systems, cybersecurity, automation tools, and operational technologies.
- Prepare business cases, recommendations, and implementation plans for technology initiatives.
- Monitor technology trends and assess applicability to Commercial Plastics operations.
- Support strategic growth plans and future technology initiatives.
Direct Reports: IT Administrators, IT Support Personnel, and Additional Information Technology Resources as Assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive IT experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of IT leadership or management experience.
- Experience supporting multi-site environments.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft technologies, virtualization, networking, security, reporting, and business applications.
- Experience supporting ERP systems and manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, VMware, Hyper-V, networking, and cybersecurity practices.
- Experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, Power BI, SQL reporting, or similar technologies.
- Experience evaluating and implementing process improvements through technology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical users.
- Ability to develop and mentor technical personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing industry experience.
- Experience supporting plastics manufacturing operations.
- Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, AI, and business intelligence experience.
- Microsoft certifications.
- Cybersecurity certifications.
- ERP implementation or advanced administration experience.
- PowerShell scripting experience.
- Experience managing technology budgets and capital projects.
Physical and Work Requirements
- Ability to work in office and active manufacturing environments that may not be climate controlled.
- Ability to regularly travel to all Commercial Plastics facilities.
- Ability to walk manufacturing and office areas and interact with employees throughout the workday.
- · Ability to occasionally work outside standard business hours during upgrades, migrations, outages, and business-critical events.
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
