Job description
To provide support of mentor/mentee matches to ensure child safety, positive impacts for youth, constructive and satisfying relationships between children and volunteers, and a strong sense of affiliation with BBBS on the part of volunteers, parents, and guardians. The right applicant will be comfortable with open communication, relate well in multicultural environments and be enthusiastic about making a difference in our community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Follow all procedures and policies outlined in the Service Delivery Manual.
· Maintain assigned caseload.
· Continually assess the mentor/mentee match relationship by focusing on child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development, and volunteer satisfaction. Identify, address, and resolve real or potential problems as early as possible. Match support contacts are completed on a frequency according to BBBS Standards. More frequent contact may be required based on the needs of each match. Match support contacts are most often completed via phone.
· Assess and provide for individual training needs, information, and support needs for each match participant to ensure a positive youth development experience for the child, and a successful and satisfying experience for the volunteer. Provide coaching via supportive questioning for volunteers, parents, and youth.
· Ensure high-level expertise in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures throughout all aspects of job function.
· Assess and refer families for alternative or additional services as needed.
· Develop strategic interventions to identify and strengthen match relationships that require extra support to continue to grow.
· Ensure database documentation is completed in Matchforce and is done in real-time per the agency’s service delivery standards and procedures.
· Promote individual and group match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement with the child and agency affiliation.
· Effectively utilize all evaluation and support surveys to assess match impact on youth development and to develop and implement strategies to better support matches and improve outcomes for the children served.
· Conduct exit interview (either in-person or by phone) with all parties at match closure (when possible). Assess reasons for match closure and re-match volunteers and children as appropriate.
· Share with the Community Engagement Coordinator and Marketing Department potential partnership relationships as discovered through volunteers’ and parents’ employers and affiliations.
· Identify and promote re-engagement of volunteers as Bigs (mentors), board, committee members, and/or donors.
· Attend all staff and department meetings as scheduled.
· Collaborate with other mentoring relationship staff to ensure smooth transition among functions and child safety.
· Represent the agency in a professional manner at all times, providing courteous service to both internal and external constituents.
· Assist with enrollment interviews (parent/guardian, child, and/or volunteer) as needed.
· Assist with reference checks as needed.
· Provide support to other mentoring relationship team members to ensure child safety.

PERFORMANCE MEASURESPerformance metrics for this position will be established annually based on:
· Achieve an average of 90% on-time Match Support completion over the course of the year
· Maintain quality assurance ratings of at least 4 out of 5.
· Ensure a minimum of 75% survey (SOR, YOS) completion.
· Cover at least six agency activities per year (not including Benefit Dinner and Bowl for Kids’ Sake: BFKS).
· Participate in a BFKS team or register as a virtual bowler.
· Submit a minimum of one match support story/quote per month to the Marketing Department.
· Take photos at match meetings and submit them to the Marketing Department.
· Take photos of Littles (mentees) at Community Based enrollment interviews and submit them to the Marketing Department.
· Recruit at least one Little/match/family for external program opportunities (e.g. birthday parties, camp scholarships, agency videos, and others TBD).
· Participate in the pre-match team.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Must have a high school diploma/GED equivalent and meet one of the following criteria:
· A documented bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university, in a field that is determined by the agency to be appropriate for the position(s), or candidates shall be within six months of degree completion;
· A documented associate degree or two years of higher education experience, from an accredited college or university in a field that is determined by the agency to be appropriate for the position(s) and two years of relevant work experience in related fields, such as social work, counseling, social services, child development, or other related fields.
· Four years of relevant work experience in related fields, such as social work, counseling, social services, child development, or other related fields.
YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
· A minimum of 2 years of experience with case management services is preferred.
· Experience working with both diverse child and adult populations; specific assessment, intake or interview experience preferred.
· Must have car, valid driver’s license, and meet state-required automobile insurance minimums.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
10 - 20% of the time is travel. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance that meets the state’s requirements, and be able and willing to travel as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Routine office environment. Flexible work hours to meet customer needs. Evening hours are required regularly. When home visits are indicated, must travel to local communities and neighborhoods.
