Job description
We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to be a top escalation point and to take on project work across our client base. When something gets past the service desk, it comes to you. This is a role for someone who has spent years in the trenches, has seen a wide range of environments, and can walk into a messy problem and work it to resolution without a lot of hand-holding.
The work is a mix. Part of it is escalation, being the person who solves the hard tickets and helps the rest of the team level up. Part of it is project work, standing up new environments, migrations, infrastructure builds, the kind of work that has a beginning and an end and needs someone who sees it through. If you like variety and you like being the person others come to when they are stuck, this is a good fit.
What You Will Do
-
Handle Tier 3 escalations across Windows Server, M365, networking, firewalls, virtualization, and backup
-
Own project work end to end, scoping, building, and seeing it through to completion
-
Serve as a technical resource and mentor for the service desk and field teams
-
Drive root cause analysis so recurring problems get fixed, not just patched
-
Document your work and keep environments to standard
-
Work directly with clients when an issue or project calls for it
Requirements
Several years of hands-on experience in an MSP or multi-client environment, this is a requirement
-
Strong across Windows Server, Active Directory, M365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune), and virtualization (Hyper-V or VMware)
-
Solid networking and security fundamentals, firewalls (SonicWall a plus), VPN, VLANs, DNS, MFA, EDR
-
Comfortable owning projects and giving clients honest timelines
-
Self-directed, organized, and takes ownership through to resolution
-
Strong communicator, able to explain technical issues to non-technical people
-
Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license for occasional onsite work
-
Relevant certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, VMware) are a plus, not required
Nice to Have
-
Experience with Citrix or Azure Virtual Desktop
-
Exposure to compliance frameworks in regulated environments
-
RMM and PSA platform experience (ConnectWise a plus)
Benefits & conditions
Compensation based on experience
-
Performance and compensation review at 90 days
-
PTO plus paid holidays
-
401(k) with 4% company match
-
Health, dental, and vision insurance
