The Mainframe DB2 DBA provides support with installation, modification, maintenance, testing, analysis, and performance of applications using mainframe DB2 databases., * Act as a Principal/Lead DBA for complexDB2 environments on both z/OS and Distributed (LUW - Linux, Unix, Windows) platforms, providing senior-level guidance and mentorship.

Must have 4 years of progressive experience as a mainframe DB2 DBA. \n

Extensive, demonstrable experience in the administration and architecture of DB2 for LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows) environments, complementing the z/OS experience.. \n
-
Proven expertise in using DB2 performance monitoring and tuning tools (both IBM and third-party) to manage buffer pools, I/O operations, locking mechanisms, and run time statistics. \n
-
Solid knowledge of cross-platform database connectivity, specifically DB2 Connect and its configuration for remote client access. \n
-
Deep understanding of DB2 Data Sharing principles, setup, and maintenance for high availability and scalability. \n

Functional knowledge of DB2 internals, tools, and their usage. \n
-
Understanding of replication services(Q-Replication, CDC Replication). \n
-
Functional knowledge of database interfaces (connection/batch/CICS/DB2/MQ/distributed). \n
-
Functional knowledge of z/OS systems. \n
-
Operating system general knowledge for Windows/Unix/Linux. \n

Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. \n

Ability to work unsupervised and independently seek out and interact with colleagues and outside vendors. \n

Perform advanced, end-to-end performance tuning across application, database, and system levels, including detailed SQL query optimization and access path analysis (using tools like EXPLAIN). \n

Troubleshoot software defect or usage issues. \n
-
Work in a software development environment following SDLC of waterfall and agile/scrum methodologies. \n
-
Provide on-call break/fix database support and respond within the agreed SLA. \n
-
Support off-shift implementations of mainframe releases. \n
-
Support Disaster Recovery exercises. \n
-
Manage changes within standard control processes and mechanisms using ITIL/ITSM practices. \n

Produce clear technical documentation and conform to any audit requirements. \n

DB2 v13 on Z/OS Experience a must \n

Experience supporting and troubleshooting large DB2 tables/environments \n
