Job description

International is seeking a Technical Service Engineer Consultant. This is a hybrid technical role responsible for defining service methods and creating clear, user-focused technical documentation for workshop execution. This role ensures that repair, maintenance, and diagnostic solutions are both technically sound and practical in real-world environments. As vehicles become more complex and increasingly dependent on software and data, ensuring serviceability and clear documentation is critical. This role connects engineering, service operations, and documentation to deliver solutions that maximize efficiency, quality, and uptime. Why This Role, Why Now: Many organizations treat serviceability and documentation as downstream activities. This role is different. You will help ensure that service methods and documentation are considered early in the development process, improving product usability and reducing inefficiencies in the field. At the same time, increasing system complexity creates a growing need for clear, structured, and high-quality workshop information. This role plays a key part in bridging that gap between engineering and real-world execution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop safe, ergonomic, and efficient methods for repair, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
  • Evaluate product concepts from a serviceability and workshop perspective
  • Define requirements to improve service efficiency, downtime, and usability
  • Create clear, structured technical documentation for repair, maintenance, and diagnostics
  • Translate complex engineering solutions into practical, easy-to-follow instructions
  • Produce and maintain user-focused content, including text and illustrations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, production, and service
  • Ensure documentation is aligned with product updates and lifecycle changes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of service methods and documentation standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience, * Master’s degree and at least 1 year of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience, * At least 5 years of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience, * Experience with service methods, diagnostics, or workshop operations
  • Strong ability to simplify complex technical information
  • Understanding of vehicle systems or similar complex products
  • Experience in technical writing or documentation development
  • Experience working in cross-functional development environments
  • Familiarity with PLM or documentation tools (e.g., Teamcenter or similar)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience with Arbortext
  • Experience with Windchill
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat (beyond Reader)

How You’ll Know It’s Working Service and repair methods are efficient, safe, and easy to execute in workshops Technical documentation is clear, accurate, and widely used by service teams Engineering teams proactively consider serviceability during development Workshops can perform diagnostics and repairs without unnecessary workarounds Feedback from the field leads to continuous improvements in methods and documentation
