Job description
Company: Cole Neural Institute, Inc. Location: Coral Gables, Florida Work Arrangement: Full-time; hybrid, with regular on-site availability Reports To: Clinical Director/Founder and Executive Leadership Position Type: Permanent, The Full-Stack Software Engineer will take technical ownership of CNI’s clinical automation systems and help transform the current system into a reliable, scalable, commercially deployable platform.
Initial priority: understand, complete, test, document, and support the existing automation - including systems that collect and process psychometric surveys, EEG data, physiological information, client records, proprietary scoring algorithms, clinical summaries, treatment recommendations, and longitudinal outcomes.
Longer-term responsibility: help architect and build CNI’s “Clinic in a Box” platform, including practitioner-facing tools, clinical workflows, automated scoring engines, client management, reporting, integrations, data security, remote support, system monitoring, and multi-clinic deployment.
This is not a short-term development assignment. Automation systems require continuous maintenance, refinement, quality control, and support. We’re looking for someone who wants lasting ownership of a meaningful platform and wants to grow with the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
Immediate Priorities
- Review and understand the existing codebase, automation workflows, technical documentation, databases, spreadsheets, integrations, and reporting systems
- Complete and stabilize the automation currently under development
- Translate CNI’s proprietary clinical rules, formulas, thresholds, scoring models, and decision pathways into accurate, auditable software logic
- Automate the ingestion, validation, scoring, and reporting of psychometric, EEG, physiological, wearable, and clinical data
- Build safeguards to identify missing, inconsistent, incorrectly formatted, or clinically improbable data
- Develop repeatable testing procedures for every scoring engine, formula, integration, and report
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide dependable ongoing support
- Document the system so its operation doesn’t depend on undocumented knowledge held by one person
- Work closely with CNI’s founder, clinical team, neurotechnology staff, management, and outside development partners
Platform Development
- Help design and build the “Clinic in a Box” platform for independent practitioners and clinics
- Develop practitioner dashboards, client records, assessment workflows, treatment-planning tools, scoring summaries, progress reports, and administrative controls
- Create a scalable, multi-clinic architecture with appropriate separation of organizations, users, permissions, and client data
- Design secure APIs and integrations with external platforms, wearable devices, EEG systems, survey systems, CRM platforms, cloud storage, and future CNI applications
- Convert evolving clinical methodologies into configurable, version-controlled rules engines
- Ensure scoring results trace back to their source data, formula version, thresholds, and intermediate calculations
- Develop deployment, monitoring, backup, error-reporting, and recovery procedures
- Support platform updates without disrupting active clinics or compromising historical results
- Help create tools for practitioner onboarding, training, licensing, quality assurance, and remote support
- Contribute to technical strategy, development priorities, vendor selection, and product planning
Data, Security, and Quality
- Process brainwave frequency data end-to-end, from ingestion to analytics, working with our neuroscientist and R&D team
- Apply privacy-by-design and security-by-design principles throughout the system
- Help establish safeguards for sensitive health and personally identifiable information
- Support HIPAA-conscious architecture, access controls, audit logs, encryption, backups, data-retention practices, and incident-response procedures
- Maintain clear separation between proprietary clinical IP and general platform functionality
- Build automated testing for clinical calculations, data pipelines, integrations, permissions, and user workflows
- Maintain version control for formulas and scoring systems so historical assessments remain reproducible as methodologies evolve
- Participate in formal validation of scoring results against clinician-reviewed test cases
Requirements
- Strong professional experience in full-stack software development
- Experience building and maintaining production applications - not only prototypes
- Experience with AWS or a comparable cloud environment
- Experience with Python/R, data analytics, automated scoring, or rules-engine development
- Strong knowledge of back-end development, databases, APIs, integrations, and data-processing workflows
- Ability to understand complex rules and translate them into accurate, testable, maintainable software
- Experience diagnosing and supporting systems after deployment
- Understanding of software architecture, security, authentication, permissions, backups, logging, and monitoring
- Experience with version control, code review, testing, deployment, and technical documentation
- Ability to work directly with nontechnical subject-matter experts and convert their methodology into clear technical requirements
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly where small calculation or data-mapping errors could materially affect results
- Ability to take ownership, prioritize competing needs, and communicate risks and progress clearly
- Willingness to work in a changing, entrepreneurial environment where the product and the organization are growing together, * Experience with healthcare, clinical technology, digital health, medical data, health-tech SaaS, or regulated information
- Familiarity with HIPAA, healthcare privacy, security controls, and auditability
- Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms
- Experience integrating wearable devices, biosensors, EEG systems, or time-series physiological data
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and the responsible use of AI in clinical or data-sensitive systems
- Experience leading a platform from early-stage development through production deployment and scale
- Experience with signal processing
- Interest in becoming a technical leader as the company grows
Benefits & conditions
This is an opportunity to become a foundational member of a company building a new kind of clinical technology platform. The successful candidate won’t merely receive tickets and write isolated features - they’ll help determine how a proprietary neurologic method becomes a dependable, scalable system for qualified practitioners worldwide.
The role offers substantial ownership, direct access to the creator of the methodology, meaningful technical challenges, and the opportunity to shape both the product and the technical organization behind it.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive compensation will be based on experience, technical breadth, and the candidate’s ability to assume long-term ownership of the platform. Benefits, work arrangement, and potential performance or equity-based incentives will be discussed with qualified candidates., * A brief description of a production system they personally helped build and maintain
- Their specific role and responsibilities on that system
- An example of a difficult integration, data, reliability, or architecture problem they solved
- Links to GitHub, a portfolio, or relevant work samples, where available
- Compensation expectations and availability

About the company
Cole Neural Institute (CNI) consolidates decades of proprietary neuroscience research in mental health treatment into the Cole Neurologic Method - a data-informed approach combining EEG-based neuroassessments, neurofeedback, cognitive coaching, psychometric assessments, and physiological data to help clients improve emotional and neurologic regulation.
CNI is currently completing the automation of its clinical assessment, scoring, reporting, treatment-planning, and outcomes-tracking systems. Our long-range objective is a complete “Clinic in a Box”: a secure, scalable, plug-and-play technology and operating platform that will let qualified practitioners and clinics worldwide implement and deliver the Cole Neurologic Method consistently.
We’re seeking a permanent software engineer who can help us finish what we’re building today and become a key technical leader in what it grows into tomorrow.
