Job description

As a Production Programmer, you will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by producing accurate CAD/CAM programs for laser cutting and press brake machinery. Working closely with production, engineering and supply chain teams, you will convert customer and design data into manufacturing-ready information, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and on schedule., * Create CAD/CAM programs for laser-cut and pressed components.

  • Convert 3D STP files into DXF files for manufacturing purposes.
  • Generate and remotely programme press brake and laser cutting machines.
  • Upload and maintain accurate production data within the MRP system.
  • Issue manufacturing files in line with project schedules and production requirements.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers regarding component queries.
  • Support design-for-manufacture activities to improve manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Identify tooling, jigs, fixtures and equipment requirements to improve safety, quality and productivity.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, process optimisation and manufacturing sustainability initiatives.
  • Assist with capital equipment justification and improvement projects.
  • Ensure programming milestones and key project dates are achieved.

Requirements

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in metal fabrication, sheet metal or precision manufacturing who enjoys combining technical programming skills with hands-on manufacturing knowledge., We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with experience in fabrication, sheet metal or parts manufacturing environments.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Good working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software, ideally Inventor.
  • Experience with press brake operations and programming.
  • Understanding of laser cutting, sheet metal and fabrication processes.
  • Strong computer literacy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Desirable:

  • Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • CADMAN-B software experience.
  • Experience using MRP systems, ideally Progress Plus.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 quality systems.
