Job description

We are seeking a Senior Windows Systems Engineer to support the design, implementation, administration, and modernization of enterprise Windows infrastructure and cloud-based services. This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for maintaining highly available, secure, and scalable environments while serving as a technical lead and escalation point for complex issues. The position also provides mentorship to system administrators and contributes to infrastructure standards, automation initiatives, and operational excellence. <>Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments.
  • Engineer and administer Microsoft Azure cloud solutions, including hybrid cloud and identity services.
  • Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, Group Policy, PKI/AD CS, and identity management solutions.
  • Implement and maintain Zero Trust security principles, RBAC, Azure governance, and compliance standards.
  • Perform server builds, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Develop and support automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar tools.
  • Manage physical and virtual server environments, including storage, networking, RAID, and hardware components.
  • Monitor system performance, ensure availability, and perform root cause analysis for complex incidents.
  • Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Support change management, incident management, and service request processes using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Participate in after-hours support, maintenance windows, and critical outage response activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of Windows Systems Administration and Engineering experience.
  • 6+ years of cloud engineering or cloud operations experience.
  • 3+ years in a senior or lead engineering role with architecture and design responsibilities.
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Active Directory
  • Windows Server 2019/2022/2025
  • Identity and Access Management
  • Networking concepts (DNS, VPNs, Load Balancers)
  • Security hardening and vulnerability management
  • Experience with authentication protocols such as SAML, OAuth 2.0, and OIDC.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks including NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, and CIS controls.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

<>Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or other automation/orchestration tools.
  • CI/CD pipeline implementation and infrastructure automation experience.
  • ITIL framework knowledge.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale hybrid cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, governance, and cloud cost optimization strategies.

<>Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) preferred.
  • Security+, SSCP, GSEC, or equivalent industry certification preferred.
  • Additional Microsoft, cloud, or infrastructure certifications are a plus.
