Job description
- Safely operate Class A tractor-trailers on local and OTR routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Transport refrigerated, hazardous materials (hazmat), flatbed, or tanker freight with precision and care, ensuring cargo integrity during transit.
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes for timely deliveries while maintaining compliance with route driving protocols.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, handling logistics cargo with attention to safety and accuracy.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Manage documentation related to freight delivery, including bills of lading, logs, and inspection reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, and any issues encountered en route.
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, specifically with tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
- Prior delivery driving experience involving freight handling across diverse routes such as local deliveries or long-distance OTR routes.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or hazardous materials transportation is highly desirable.
- Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with a clean driving record; manual transmission experience preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT compliance standards, and safety protocols for dangerous goods.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation tools confidently and follow route instructions accurately.
- Strong manual handling skills for loading/unloading cargo safely and efficiently in various environments.
