Job description

  • We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Database Developer.
  • This resource will help maintain and support our existing on-premises data environment while the organization advances a broader cloud data transformation.
  • The immediate priority is ensuring the stability, reliability, and continuity of business-critical legacy data solutions during this transition.
  • The consultant must be able to become productive quickly in a large, mature Microsoft SQL Server environment, work effectively with existing code and processes, and independently troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
  • This is a highly hands-on technical role.
  • We are looking for an experienced developer who is comfortable working in an established legacy environment-not someone who requires greenfield development or modern cloud technologies to be effective., * Maintain, support, troubleshoot, and enhance existing Microsoft SQL Server-based data solutions, including the enterprise data warehouse and operational data stores.
  • Develop and modify complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and other database objects.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot SSIS packages, SQL Server Agent jobs, ETL processes, integrations, and scheduled/batch workloads.
  • Provide hands-on production support, including diagnosing failed jobs, processing issues, data discrepancies, and performance problems.
  • Quickly understand unfamiliar existing code, business logic, data flows, transformations, job dependencies, and downstream impacts.
  • Perform SQL performance analysis and tuning, including query optimization, execution-plan analysis, and indexing.
  • Support data validation and reconciliation and safely recover or rerun failed processing when necessary.
  • Implement enhancements and corrective solutions while following established development, testing, change-management, and deployment practices.
  • Create and maintain documentation of database processes, data flows, dependencies, production procedures, and changes.
  • Work collaboratively with Data Engineering & Operations team members, DBAs, application teams, and other technology partners.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer and help ensure appropriate team coverage of critical legacy processes.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, hands-on developer who can come into a complex existing environment, learn it quickly, solve problems independently, and provide reliable coverage for business-critical data processing., * 5+ years of hands-on database development and production support experience in complex enterprise environments.

  • Advanced Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL development and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SSIS, SQL Server Agent, ETL, and scheduled/batch processing.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and safely modify complex existing and unfamiliar code.
  • Strong production-support experience, including root-cause analysis, incident resolution, data validation, and recovery of failed processes.
  • Experience tracing dependencies across database objects, jobs, ETL processes, source systems, and downstream consumers.
  • Strong SQL performance-tuning skills, including execution plans, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Experience with enterprise data warehouses, operational data stores, and large-volume data processing.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and become productive quickly with limited ramp-up time.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting hybrid on-premises and cloud data environments.
  • Snowflake development or production-support experience.
  • Git, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio database projects, or comparable development tooling.
  • Financial services, wealth management, or other regulated-industry experience.
