Platform Architect

Our client is seeking a Platform Architect to design and evolve the infrastructure that supports application deployments across public cloud environments and an internally managed Kubernetes platform. This person will define deployment patterns, work closely with development teams, and help applications run reliably and securely at scale. The role calls for hands-on Kubernetes expertise, service mesh experience, and a strong understanding of cloud-native architecture. Core Responsibilities

• Design application deployment architectures for public cloud platforms, with a preference for GCP and AWS
• Architect and support deployments on an internally managed Kubernetes platform using native Kubernetes objects, CRDs, operators, and controllers
• Configure Istio for traffic management, security, and observability
• Establish standards for containerization, orchestration, and cloud-native application design
• Partner with development teams on deployment pipelines and infrastructure patterns
• Build and maintain Datadog dashboards, alerts, and APM instrumentation
• Evaluate cloud services and platform tools for reliability, scalability, and cost
• Work with security, networking, and operations teams on deployment requirements
• Troubleshoot complex issues across public cloud and internally managed Kubernetes environments
• Maintain architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and operational runbooks
• Guide engineering teams on Kubernetes, Istio, and cloud-native practices

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience designing application deployments on public cloud platforms, preferably GCP or AWS
• Deep hands-on knowledge of native Kubernetes APIs, cluster architecture, workloads, networking, CRDs, operators, controllers, and troubleshooting
• Experience with Istio or a comparable service mesh, including traffic routing, mTLS, resiliency, and observability
• Experience with Datadog or a comparable monitoring platform
• Knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, distributed systems, high availability, and disaster recovery
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Java and Spring Boot application development
• RESTful API design and development
• Terraform or Helm
• GitOps practices and tools such as ArgoCD or Flux
• GCP Professional Cloud Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or a comparable certification

• Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $56.00 and $80.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
