Job description

Kforce has a client seeking a Senior Database Administrator in Boca Raton, FL to serve as the lead administrator for Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL database environments across both on-premises and cloud platforms., * Administer Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance environments, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and maintenance

  • Design, implement, and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions utilizing Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, log shipping, and replication
  • Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and data protection strategies, including transaction log management, retention policies, and point-in-time recovery processes
  • Perform routine recovery validation and restore testing to ensure database recoverability and compliance with recovery objectives
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and capacity planning
  • Manage database scalability across cloud and on-premises environments, including compute, memory, storage, and resource allocation optimization
  • Administer database security controls, including role-based access, encryption technologies, key management, and least-privilege access models
  • Support business continuity initiatives and disaster recovery planning for critical database systems
  • Conduct root cause analysis of performance issues and outages, implementing preventive and corrective actions
  • Support audit, compliance, and data governance requirements related to database security, retention, and recoverability
  • Automate administrative processes and reporting through PowerShell and T-SQL scripting
  • Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and recovery runbooks while serving as the escalation point for database-related issues

Requirements

  • 7+ years of database administration experience supporting enterprise SQL environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration in production environments
  • Experience implementing and maintaining high-availability technologies, including Always On Availability Groups and failover clustering
  • Experience administering Azure SQL Database and/or Azure SQL Managed Instance environments
  • Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, disaster recovery, replication, log shipping, and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) concepts
  • Expertise in SQL performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimization, execution plan analysis, and capacity planning
  • Proficiency with T-SQL and PowerShell scripting
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server environments and enterprise storage platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
  • Experience supporting SQL Server environments hosted on VMware
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises database infrastructures
  • Familiarity with enterprise backup and recovery platforms, including application-aware database backup technologies

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
