Job description
- TPF experience can be current or from previous projects, but it must be clearly documented in the resume.
- Candidate should primarily come from a development background approximately 75% Development / 25% Testing.
- This is NOT a testing/QA position.
- Strong TPF Assembler and C/C++ development experience is highly preferred.
- Target candidates with experience from Citibank, American Express, and Emirates, where possible.
- TPF Mainframe experience from the Banking or Airline domain is highly relevant.
- Atlanta candidates are strongly preferred because the position requires 3 days/week onsite.
- The client may consider remote only for an exceptionally strong/rockstar z/TPF candidate.
- Client has already interviewed approximately 17 candidates but has not yet identified the right fit.
- This is a niche skill set, so there is a good opportunity if we can identify a genuinely hands-on z/TPF Developer/Architect.
- Contract duration is expected to be 9 12 months, followed by potential full-time conversion.
- There is no flexibility on rate.
Technical Skills Required The candidate should have strong hands-on experience with:
- TPF Assembler
- IBM z/TPF
- C/C++ on z/TPF
- ECB (Entry Control Block)
- Storage Management
- TPFDF / TPF Database Facility
- z/TPF 64-bit
- TCP/IP
- XML
- Web Services
- TPF/z/TPF transaction-processing architecture
- Performance tuning and bottleneck analysis, * Lead end-to-end architecture of TPF/z/TPF transaction-processing systems.
- Participate hands-on in TPF development using Assembler and C/C++.
- Define modernization roadmaps for legacy TPF environments.
- Drive architectural decisions around ECB design, storage pools, and TPFDF data management.
- Implement modern z/TPF capabilities including 64-bit processing, TCP/IP, XML, and web services.
- Establish coding standards and architectural best practices.
- Lead performance tuning and bottleneck analysis across TPF subsystems.
- Review and approve HLD/LLD documents, code reviews, and test plans.
- Support TPF z/TPF migration and Assembler C/C++ modernization.
- Manage integration points including SELCAL, OAG, airline/GDS systems where applicable.
- Lead and mentor TPF developers, testers, and systems programmers.
- Work with infrastructure, network, security, business, and architecture teams.

Requirements
- IBM Certified Systems Expert z/TPF or equivalent mainframe certification.
- TPF DevOps, automated testing, and CI/CD experience.
- AWS/Azure integration with z/TPF or hybrid mainframe architectures.
- Previous Solution Architect or Enterprise Architect experience.
- Airline industry experience.
- Knowledge of NDC and IATA standards.
- Experience with GDS/interline airline integration environments.
