Job description

We are seeking a Network Administrator III to support a highly secure enterprise network environment in San Antonio, TX. This opportunity goes beyond a traditional network operations center role. While network monitoring is part of the position, team members are expected to take ownership of technical issues, perform hands-on troubleshooting, and work problems through resolution rather than simply escalating incidents. The successful candidate will support day-to-day network operations and incident response within a modern, highly automated environment supporting secure enterprise services. This is an excellent opportunity for a network professional who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting and wants broader technical responsibility within a mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor network connections, performance, availability, and security.
  • Identify network risks and issues proactively and take appropriate steps to mitigate them.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Layer 3 network connectivity issues.
  • Support incident response and day-to-day network operations.
  • Troubleshoot site-to-site IPsec tunnel connectivity.
  • Investigate user and service connectivity problems and drive issues toward resolution.
  • Configure, install, and maintain network devices and supporting software.
  • Support network maintenance, installation, and security activities.
  • Configure and troubleshoot VLANs and network access controls.
  • Work with dynamic routing protocols including BGP and OSPF.
  • Support 802.1X configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or vendors when appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively within a secure, mission-critical enterprise environment.

Requirements

Active TS/SCI security clearance.

  • Current DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline and 4+ years of relevant experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong Layer 3 troubleshooting and break/fix experience.
  • Strong understanding of the OSI model and network troubleshooting methodology.
  • Previous experience troubleshooting site-to-site/IPsec tunnels.
  • Experience monitoring network performance, availability, and security.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting switches and routers.
  • Experience with dynamic routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
  • Experience with VLAN configurations.
  • Experience configuring or supporting 802.1X.
  • Ability to work third shift, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, including applicable weekends and holidays in a 24x7 operational environment.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in San Antonio, TX.

Preferred / Relevant Experience:

  • Experience supporting enterprise or government networks.
  • Experience within secure or classified network environments.
  • Experience working in a network operations environment where administrators are responsible for troubleshooting through resolution rather than simply monitoring and escalating.
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto environments.
  • Experience supporting network security connectivity and secure tunneling technologies.
