Job description
As a Systems Engineer Skill Level 1.5 at CyberPoint, you will support mission-critical operational systems and dataflow management capabilities that process and deliver critical mission data to end users. You will work in a dynamic technical environment where system reliability, scalability and performance directly support mission success.
You will play a key role in modernizing operational systems and dataflows, including transitioning legacy, hardware-based capabilities into virtual and cloud-based environments. This hands on role is well suited for an engineer with experience or interest in dataflow technologies such as Apache NiFi who enjoys solving technical problems and working closely with operations teams to build and improve mission-focused solutions.

What You’ll Do
- Review and process Dataflow Management Requests (DMRs) and implement efficient dataflow solutions.
- Create, configure, manage and troubleshoot dataflows using Apache NiFi.
- Manage and support operational systems that process, maintain and deliver mission-critical data.
- Support dataflow modernization efforts, including migration from hardware-based systems to virtual and cloud-based environments.
- Evaluate existing dataflows, identify requirements and develop or rebuild flows in a collaboration with operations teams.
- Develop and maintain system architecture diagrams that clearly depict software components, system functions and dataflows.
- Support analytical requirements and evolving mission needs.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering and mission stakeholders to identify system requirements and develop effective technical solutions
- Troubleshoot system and dataflow issues and support efforts to improve system reliability, scalability and performance.
- Support software configuration, upgrades and operational maintenance within Linux environments.
- Contribute to the modernization and continuous improvement of mission systems and dataflow capabilities.
- Participate in on-call support after approximately six months of on-the-job training.
Requirements
What You’ll Need
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Active TS/SCI Security Clearance with current full scope polygraph.
- 10 years of experience as a Systems Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Five additional years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree requirement.
- Experience supporting operational systems, system requirements, system integration or dataflow management.
- Ability to analyze technical requirements and develop practical system solutions.
- Ability to create and maintain system architecture diagrams depicting software and system functions.
What Will Set You Apart
- At least 4 years of experience within the Intelligence Community supporting mission systems that process and manage mission data.
- Experience working with mission data formats.
- Experience with Apache NiFi, including building, configuring or managing dataflows.
- Familiarity with Dataflow Management Requests (DMRs).
- Experience supporting dataflow modernization or migration from legacy systems to virtual or cloud-based environments.
- Familiarity with Linux command-line interfaces for managing software configurations and performing software upgrades.
- Experience gathering, analyzing and managing analytical requirements.
- Experience creating system architecture diagrams and documenting system functions and dataflows.
- Experience with tools and technologies such as:
- Apache NiFi
- NiFi Registry
- ZooKeeper
- Elasticsearch
- Grafana
