Job description
The Director, Enterprise Resource Planning leads the organization with end-to-end responsibility for Leidos Energy’s ERP platform. The team owns the platform’s operation, evolution, and effective business use, maintaining dedicated ERP expertise while leveraging Technology Operations & Sustainment and Innovation & Deployment where appropriate.
The opportunity is to make ERP a driver of better business operations rather than simply a system the business must operate. This leader works closely with Energy business and functional leaders to understand how work is performed and use the platform to enable simpler, more effective, reliable, and scalable business processes.
This leader will also help shape the technology organization for the combined Leidos Energy business, bringing together the capabilities, experience, and strengths of Leidos and ENTRUST., Own and Evolve the ERP Platform
- Maintain end-to-end accountability for the health, functionality, evolution, and lifecycle of the ERP capability.
- Establish and execute the ERP roadmap, balancing immediate business needs with long-term platform health.
- Ensure the platform remains reliable, secure, maintainable, and capable of supporting the evolving business.
- Govern platform decisions to limit unnecessary complexity, customization, and technical debt.
Improve the Business Through ERP
- Develop a strong understanding of the business processes and workflows enabled by the platform.
- Partner with employees and functional leaders to identify friction, inefficiencies, workarounds, capability gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead or enable business-process improvement rather than simply implementing system requirements or automating existing processes.
- Translate business priorities into platform improvements and ensure changes are adopted and produce their intended business outcomes.
Lead the ERP Organization and Ecosystem
- Maintain the specialized ERP expertise necessary for end-to-end platform ownership.
- Leverage Operations & Sustainment and Innovation & Deployment rather than unnecessarily duplicating their capabilities within the ERP organization.
- Manage the organization, roadmap, resources, investments, vendors, and implementation partners necessary to deliver the mission.
- Provide the Energy CTO and Business Area leadership with clear insight into platform performance, business opportunities, risks, priorities, and investment needs.
- Build an effective, engaged team by bringing together existing capabilities, developing people and leaders, and creating opportunities for talent across the combined Energy organization.
Leadership Expectations
- Own the business outcome, not just the application. Measure ERP success by how effectively it enables the Energy business.
- Understand how the business works. Combine technology leadership with a deep understanding of the processes the platform enables.
- Simplify before customizing. Improve the process and favor standard capabilities before introducing additional complexity.
- Balance today and tomorrow. Maintain a stable platform while continuously improving its business value.
- Operate as one technology organization. Use capabilities and resources across team and organizational boundaries rather than building an ERP silo.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, business systems, or a related discipline and 12+ years of relevant professional experience; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical organizations and multidisciplinary teams, including developing technical leaders.
- Demonstrated leadership of a major ERP or enterprise business platform, or comparable leadership of complex enterprise technology and the business processes it enables.
- Demonstrated experience working across business functions to redesign or materially improve business processes enabled by enterprise technology-not simply implement system requirements.
- Ability to translate complex business needs into technology priorities, communicate choices and tradeoffs clearly to senior leaders, simplify complex environments and processes, and lead effectively across organizational boundaries., * Master’s degree in a relevant technical or business discipline.
- Experience with the ERP platform and technology ecosystem used by Leidos Energy.
- Deep understanding of energy, utility, engineering, or another engineering-intensive business and its core operational and business processes.
- Experience leading significant enterprise technology or ERP modernization in a large, matrixed organization.
