Job description

The Senior Director, Data Science, leads the development and execution of advanced data strategies and machine learning solutions to drive business growth and innovation. This role requires expertise in coding, model development, validation, and deployment, alongside strong stakeholder collaboration to translate complex business challenges into actionable data-driven insights. The position emphasizes mentoring teams, fostering technical excellence, and aligning data initiatives with organizational objectives to deliver measurable value. The successful candidate will champion continuous improvement and leverage cutting-edge analytics to support strategic decision-making across multiple business domains.

About the team: The Data Science leadership team drives strategic innovation by leveraging advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning to transform business outcomes. This team collaborates closely with executive leadership to design and implement data-driven solutions that enhance decision-making and member experiences. Focused on delivering scalable AI and GenAI capabilities, the team fosters a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and strategic impact. By integrating deep business insight with cutting-edge technology, they enable enterprise-wide growth and operational efficiency, positioning the organization at the forefront of retail innovation and member value creation.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the development and deployment of advanced machine learning models to support strategic business initiatives.
  • Translate complex business requirements into data-driven strategies and actionable insights.
  • Oversee model assessment, validation, and lifecycle management to ensure accuracy and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design innovative data solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Mentor and guide data science teams to enhance technical capabilities and deliver high-impact results.
  • Drive data visualization efforts to communicate insights effectively and influence decision-making.
  • Shape and implement data strategies that maximize the value of data assets across multiple domains.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data science, including advanced machine learning, statistical modeling, and AI/ML inference techniques.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as Python, SQL, Java, and expertise in software testing and deployment.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Proven leadership in managing cross-functional teams and mentoring associates to foster continuous learning and innovation.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools and techniques to communicate insights effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capability in developing and executing data strategies that drive measurable business value., Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 7 years’ experience in an analytics related field. Option 2: Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years’ experience in an analytics related field. Option 3: 9 years’ experience in an analytics or related field. 3 years’ supervisory experience.
