Job description

Role summary: As a Senior Data Scientist, you will leverage advanced analytical techniques and domain expertise to identify, develop, and deploy data-driven solutions that support strategic business objectives. This role involves extracting and validating data from various sources, designing robust predictive models, and delivering insightful visualizations to influence decision-making. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex business challenges into actionable data strategies, ensuring scalable and sustainable model implementation. Additionally, you will mentor colleagues and uphold high standards of integrity, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the data science function. About the team: The Media Insights team delivers actionable insights to optimize investments with Walmart Connect. By analyzing media performance, the team supports agencies, technology partners, and advertisers in enhancing strategies and driving growth. Utilizing advanced data analysis, statistical methods, and predictive modeling, the team transforms complex data into clear, market-facing insights. Collaborating across functions, they ensure data quality and effective model deployment to support business decisions. This team plays a vital role in enabling data-driven strategies that maximize value and impact for Walmart’s advertising partners. What you’ll do:

  • Identify and source relevant data from multiple business domains and databases to support analytical initiatives.
  • Conduct initial data quality assessments and ensure data suitability for modeling and analysis.
  • Develop, test, and validate advanced statistical and machine learning models to address complex business challenges.
  • Deploy scalable analytical models into production environments, ensuring performance and sustainability.
  • Create clear and impactful data visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions, aligning analytics efforts with organizational goals.
  • Mentor junior team members on modeling techniques and best practices.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data science, machine learning, and predictive modeling with proficiency in Python programming.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods, hypothesis testing, and advanced analytical modeling techniques.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools and best practices to effectively communicate complex data insights.
  • Proven ability to identify and source relevant business data, ensuring data quality and alignment with business requirements.
  • Experience deploying and scaling analytical models in production environments with attention to performance and sustainability.
  • Ability to translate business problems into data-driven solutions and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Skilled in exploratory data analysis and applying AI and large language modeling techniques., Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years’ experience in an analytics related field. Option 2- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years’ experience in an analytics related field. Option 3 - 5 years’ experience in an analytics or related field.
