Job description
We are seeking a talented, detail-oriented Mid-Level UI/UX Designer to join our product development team on a 6-month contract to cover maternity leave. In this role, you will create intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing digital experiences for web and mobile applications and more. You will work closely with our product and engineering teams to translate user needs and business goals into high-quality designs. This is the perfect role for a mid-tier professional who can hit the ground running without extensive hand-holding and is a collaborative team player., * Interface & Experience Design: Design and iterate on user interfaces and user experiences across web and mobile applications, balancing user needs with technical feasibility.
- Prototyping & Flow Mapping: Build user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes in Figma to communicate design decisions effectively.
- Responsive & Mobile-First Execution: Ensure designs adhere to responsive principles and accessibility standards, optimizing layouts for diverse screen sizes while championing mobile design best practices.
- Engineering Collaboration & Handoff: Work closely with developers to ensure seamless handoff, accurate component mapping, and pixel-perfect implementation of UI patterns in code.
- Design Reviews & Feedback: Participate in design reviews, articulate the rationale behind design choices, and provide constructive feedback to fellow designers and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Design System Stewardship & Component Development: Maintain a deep understanding of our existing design system architecture. Standardize, create, and implement scalable new components, variants, and documentation within Figma to keep our UI consistent across all products.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of professional experience in UI/UX design (Mid-level; neither too junior nor too senior).
- Strong proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools.
- Deep understanding of responsive web design and mobile app design patterns (iOS and Android).
- A solid portfolio demonstrating your UI/UX process, prototyping abilities, problem-solving skills, and final designs.
- Ability to seamlessly take over ongoing projects and manage design deliverables effectively.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Candidates who can work from Hobart are preferred, but for this role remote work from a similar timezone will be considered.
