Database Administrator

Senior Database Administrator responsible for provisioning, managing, securing, automating, and optimizing cloud PostgreSQL database environments across Azure and GCP. The role serves as a cloud PostgreSQL subject-matter expert supporting HA/DR, automation, observability, performance tuning, migrations, and database standards. Job Posting - Fieldglass

5+ years of DBA experience, with 4+ years focused specifically on cloud databases in production. Hands-on experience standing up and operating managed PostgreSQL in Azure and GCP, or strong experience in one with the ability to quickly ramp up on the other. Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, including MVCC, vacuum/autovacuum, indexing strategies, query planning/EXPLAIN, streaming/logical replication, and partitioning. Experience designing and supporting HA/DR architectures, including replication, failover, backup/restore, point-in-time recovery, and multi-region strategies. Proven database automation experience using Infrastructure-as-Code, scripting, and CI/CD. Experience building or operating database observability and monitoring solutions. Experience applying AI/ML-based tools for anomaly detection or automated remediation. Experience migrating workloads or teams from SQL Server or another RDBMS to PostgreSQL. Strong knowledge of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, private networking, encryption at rest/in transit, and secrets management. Experience working with cloud databases in regulated or audited environments. Excellent written communication skills with the ability to document standards and educate technical teams.
