Job description

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog for crew labor management applications (scheduling, time & attendance, labor compliance, payroll/HR interfaces), ensuring alignment with the Product Manager’s roadmap and business strategy
  • Write clear, well-structured user stories, acceptance criteria, and process/data flow documentation that development teams can execute against without ambiguity
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for delivery teams on day-to-day questions about scope, priority, and requirements
  • Facilitate and actively participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint review, retrospectives) for one or more delivery teams
  • Partner with stakeholders in Marine Operations, HR, Payroll, and Crewing to gather requirements, validate solutions, and manage expectations on delivery timing
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders and ensure features meet defined acceptance criteria before release
  • Track and report on sprint/release progress, backlog health, and key delivery metrics to the Product Manager and leadership as requested
  • Identify dependencies, risks, and blockers across teams and escalate proactively
  • Ensure all requirements and solution designs comply with data classification and information security standards, particularly where crew Personal Data (e.g., identification, payroll, health-related time-off data) is involved

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role on Agile software delivery teams
  • Demonstrated experience owning a product backlog, writing user stories/acceptance criteria, and working directly with engineering teams through the full delivery lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum frameworks and tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar)
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex business processes into clear, actionable requirements

PREFERRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience in the cruise, hospitality, maritime, or travel industry
  • Familiarity with crew/seafarer employment structures, international labor regulations (e.g., MLC 2006), or union/collective bargaining considerations as they relate to scheduling and pay
  • Experience integrating labor management applications with upstream/downstream HR, payroll, or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Workday)
  • Experience working within a large enterprise technology organization with formal SDLC, change management, and security review processes

PREFERRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS

  • Scrum Product Owner certification (CSPO or equivalent)
