SOFTWARE SYS ARCHITECT

job summary: We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer to serve as a lead architect on the Leidos SEC ISS2 program within our Digital Modernization Sector. In this high-impact, 100% remote position, you will drive the design, building, and implementation of an enterprise-wide infrastructure and operations automation capability built on Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP). You will partner with cross-functional engineering leads to establish repeatable automation standards, secure secrets management, and event-driven workflows across complex hybrid-cloud and containerized environments.

responsibilities: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Architect and deploy enterprise-level Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) capabilities, including RBAC, execution environments, job templates, and workflows.
• Develop reusable Ansible roles, playbooks, collections, and automated processes for infrastructure configuration, software deployment, patching, and upgrades across Windows, Linux/Unix, and OpenShift environments.
• Integrate AAP with GitHub Enterprise for auditable GitOps workflows, CyberArk for secrets management, and Datadog/ServiceNow for event-driven monitoring and automated remediation.
• Collaborate with OpenShift/Kubernetes GitOps and CI/CD engineers to streamline infrastructure automation alongside application delivery pipelines.
• Establish testing, rollback, and validation standards in non-production environments and document operational runbooks for long-term platform maintenance.

qualifications: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 8+ years of relevant infrastructure automation experience (or Master’s degree with 6+ years; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree).

Deep hands-on experience designing and operating Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and Ansible in production enterprise environments.

Proven ability to automate multi-OS platforms (Linux/Unix, Windows) and enterprise infrastructure (Kubernetes/OpenShift, virtualization, cloud, storage, or networking).

Advanced scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for API integration and system automation.

Active Public Trust clearance (or ability to successfully obtain and maintain an SEC Public Trust prior to start).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Enterprise-scale Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform architecture or administration experience.

Hands-on experience with event-driven automation triggered by Datadog, ServiceNow, or observability platforms.

Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.

Familiarity with federal security frameworks (FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP).
