Job description

In this role, you will contribute to the development of advanced software solutions that support defence, security, and critical infrastructure applications. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will help design and develop intuitive user interfaces and robust backend services that enable operators to make informed decisions in complex environments. You will be involved in projects ranging from situational awareness and command-and-control applications for satellite systems. Your work will directly contribute to technologies that support operational effectiveness and mission success. Frontend / Full Stack Software Engineer - Defence & Security Main responsibilities This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining modern software development with real-world impact in a highly technical environment.

  • Develop Modern Applications + o Design and develop user-friendly applications for defence. o Build intuitive interfaces that present complex technical and operational satellite information in a clear and actionable way. o Develop and maintain backend services and APIs supporting frontend applications.

  • Collaborate Across Disciplines + o Work closely with software engineers, system architects, domain experts, and end-users. o Translate operational requirements into scalable and maintainable software solutions. o Participate in technical discussions and contribute to system design decisions.

  • Deliver High-Quality Software + o Develop secure, reliable, and maintainable code. o Contribute to software testing, validation, and continuous improvement activities. o Support deployment, integration, and lifecycle management of software systems.

  • Contribute to Innovation + o Explore and implement new technologies, frameworks, and development approaches. o Support the development of next-generation Defence & Security capabilities. o Contribute to proof-of-concepts, demonstrations, and customer-facing projects., + The opportunity to work on innovative technologies with real operational impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in frontend or full stack software development.
  • Experience developing modern web applications. Technical Skills Experience with some of the following:

  • TypeScript / JavaScript
  • React, Angular, Vue.js, or similar frontend frameworks
  • HTML5 and CSS
  • REST APIs
  • Node.js, Python, Java, or C#
  • Docker and containerised environments
  • Git and modern software development practices
  • Agile/Scrum methodologies Nice to Have

  • Experience with GIS or geospatial applications.
  • Experience with real-time data processing and visualisation.
  • Experience within Defence, Aerospace, Security, or Critical Infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of Command & Control systems.
  • Experience working in secure or classified environments. Personal Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Team-oriented and proactive mindset.
  • Interest in Defence, Security, and high-tech innovation.
  • Ability to obtain the required EU security clearances. Language

  • Good command of English.
  • Dutch is considered a strong advantage.

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive salary between €3,500 - €4,500 gross/month (based on experience, full-time)
