Job description

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Linux Administrator in Monroe, LA., We are seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to design, deploy, secure, and support Linux-based infrastructure for a classified federal program. This role requires an experienced engineer who can build environments from the ground up and manage them through their full lifecycle, including virtualization, security, automation, monitoring, authentication services, and application support., * Design, implement, and maintain secure Linux infrastructure

  • Administer, patch, harden, and troubleshoot Ubuntu and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems
  • Manage VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, and KVM virtualization environments
  • Provision and support physical and virtual servers, integrating networking, storage, DNS, monitoring, backup, and security services
  • Maintain LDAP, LDAPS, and Active Directory integrations
  • Manage the full SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle, including installation, renewals, and troubleshooting
  • Administer Nessus vulnerability scanning and support remediation efforts
  • Support monitoring and logging tools such as Zabbix and Elastic Stack
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, firewalls, routing, DNS, and application communications
  • Develop automation using Ansible, Bash, and Python
  • Manage infrastructure code and deployment workflows using Git and GitLab CI/CD
  • Support application integrations, REST APIs, and Linux-hosted services
  • Create technical documentation, build guides, recovery procedures, and operational runbooks
  • Participate in upgrades, incident response, capacity planning, and lifecycle management
  • Occasional travel (5-20%) for customer meetings and hardware support

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in Linux systems administration, infrastructure, security, or platform engineering
  • Advanced experience with Ubuntu and RHEL administration
  • Experience building and supporting production infrastructure from the ground up
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere technologies and KVM virtualization
  • Experience with Nessus or similar vulnerability management tools
  • Experience integrating Linux systems with LDAP, LDAPS, and Active Directory
  • Experience with Ansible, Python, and Git
  • Knowledge of SSL/TLS, PKI, and certificate management
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, and network troubleshooting
  • Strong Linux command-line and Bash scripting skills
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions
  • Familiarity with Flask, Django, and REST API integrations
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments
  • Understanding of security hardening and compliance requirements within classified or government environments

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
