Software Engineer (.NET)

Support, maintain, and enhance .NET applications used by shipboard operational teams. Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve incidents. Develop and maintain backend services, REST APIs, and desktop applications using .NET technologies. Contribute to modernization efforts of legacy applications. Work in distributed and occasionally offline environments where system reliability is critical. Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, project managers, engineering teams, and business stakeholders. Coordinate with offshore development and support teams. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives. Write clean, maintainable, and testable code while participating in code reviews. Create technical documentation and assist with requirements translation.

5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on .NET development. Strong expertise in C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core/.NET 6+, and ASP.NET Web API. Experience developing and supporting applications using SQL Server, Oracle, or both. Experience with RESTful APIs and WCF services. Experience supporting production systems, troubleshooting issues, and resolving defects. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins. Experience working with Docker and containerized applications. Experience using application monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Splunk, ELK, or AppDynamics. Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, documentation, and code reviews. Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with offshore teams and cross-functional stakeholders. Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent professional experience. Experience supporting distributed or offline-capable applications. Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and/or SQL Server stored procedures. Knowledge of event-driven or messaging architectures such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS, or JMS. Understanding of security best practices including OAuth, JWT, TLS, and identity management. Experience improving application performance, system reliability, and database efficiency. Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Rancher, or hybrid cloud environments. Experience working with architecture and product teams on platform modernization. Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot. Experience with Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Angular is a plus.
