Job description

A rapidly growing medical device company focused on connected diabetes technology is looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join its mobile engineering organization. This person will be a highly hands-on member of a small Android team responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining native Android applications that communicate with connected devices and cloud-based services. The role is ideal for a strong Android/Kotlin engineer who has shipped production applications, can own complex features end to end, and is comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where reliability, connectivity, and product quality are critical.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant recent native Android development experience. * Advanced hands-on experience with Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack/Compose, Coroutines/Flow, dependency injection, and modern Android development practices. * Strong Android software architecture experience including object-oriented design, concurrency, asynchronous programming, lifecycle-aware development, and API integrations. * Experience owning complex Android features through design, development, testing, debugging, release, and production support. * Experience developing and supporting production Android applications with a strong focus on reliability, performance, maintainability, and testability. * Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across product, systems, embedded, QA, and other engineering teams. * Experience developing Android applications that communicate with physical hardware, peripherals, IoT products, or other connected devices. * Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) experience including connection management, GATT services, data transfer, and troubleshooting. * Medical device, digital health, regulated, safety-critical, or other high-reliability product development experience. * Experience integrating Android applications with RESTful APIs/cloud services or diagnosing complex production issues using logs, telemetry, and root-cause analysis.
