Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Postgresql Dba)

OverviewIn this role you will own the data-layer for a large PostgreSQL-based system on Amazon Aurora, ensuring high performance and reliability at enterprise scale.You will balance day-to-day operations with longer automation projects, shaping data models and deployment practices for cross-functional teams.You’ll drive incident responses, improve observability, and turn manual procedures into repeatable automation.This role supports Workato’s mission to orchestrate AI-powered business processes with trust and scale.ResponsabilidadesOwn day-to-day PostgreSQL operations across production data centers (indexing, query-plan analysis, schema reviews, migrations)Collaborate with application teams on data-model decisions and scaling concernsTune and operate Aurora PostgreSQL (parameter groups, replicas, failover, capacity planning)Maintain and evolve PgBouncer connection poolingAutomate deployments and maintenance (Terraform + Ansible) for upgrades, switchover, and provisioningLead incident response and RCAs for database issues, tracking follow-up actionsEnhance database observability (postgres_exporter, VictoriaMetrics dashboards/alerts)Participate in duty rotation with focused off-duty time for deep workRequisitos principales5+ years of hands-on operational PostgreSQL experience (DBA / reliability)Strong experience with multi-TB table performance tuning and indexingProduction experience with Aurora or RDS; awareness of its constraintsTerraform and Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency; Linux comfortExperience with connection pooling (PgBouncer) in productionPractical experience with logical replication, major-version upgrades, low-downtime migrationsScripting ability (Bash, Python or Go); automation-first mindsetCloud experience (AWS) with solid incident-management and RCA skillscollaboration with cross-functional teamsdata-driven decision makingproblem-solving under pressurePostgreSQL (Aurora), multi-TB performancePgBouncerTerraform
