Job description

An Insight Global client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the design, integration, configuration, testing, and maintenance of advanced network infrastructures within a dynamic engineering and laboratory environment. This individual will play a critical role in building, securing, and validating complex network architectures prior to deployment into operational environments.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Cisco networking technologies, including Cisco ACI, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), routing and switching, firewall administration, network segmentation, and virtualization. This engineer will work closely with systems administrators, network engineers, architects, and test teams to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical network environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly technical engineer who enjoys hands-on network design, advanced troubleshooting, infrastructure modernization, and implementing cutting-edge networking solutions.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities Design, configure, integrate, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure within lab and testing environments. Engineer and support Cisco ACI architectures, including APIC controllers, leaf/spine fabrics, tenants, VRFs, bridge domains, EPGs, contracts, and external connectivity. Support Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies and policy-based network architectures. Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Cisco routers and switches across Layer 2 and Layer 3 environments. Develop and maintain IP addressing schemes, subnetting plans, VLAN configurations, routing domains, and network segmentation strategies. Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and static routing. Implement and support enterprise firewall solutions, including security policies, ACLs, NAT, VPN connectivity, and traffic inspection. Analyze network performance and connectivity through packet captures, monitoring tools, event logs, and diagnostic utilities. Identify and remediate network vulnerabilities, configuration deficiencies, and segmentation weaknesses. Support network architecture initiatives focused on Zero Trust principles and defense-in-depth strategies. Build and maintain representative network environments for integration, validation, testing, troubleshooting, and engineering development efforts. Develop and maintain technical documentation including network diagrams, interface documentation, IP address plans, test procedures, and implementation guides. Perform validation and testing activities to ensure network solutions meet performance and operational requirements. Troubleshoot complex issues involving routers, switches, firewalls, virtualization platforms, servers, and applications. Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, virtualization, and infrastructure teams to resolve cross-functional technical challenges. Support change management, configuration management, engineering reviews, and deployment planning activities.

  • Security+ certification.
  • CCNA or CCNP certification.
  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering, network infrastructure, or related technical environments.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise routers, switches, and firewall platforms.
  • Experience supporting Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) environments.
  • Experience working with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
  • Experience with: Leaf/Spine architectures L3Out configurations ACI contracts and filters EPGs and Bridge Domains Micro-segmentation Policy-based networking
  • Experience integrating Cisco ACI with: Virtualized environments Enterprise firewalls External routing infrastructure Traditional Cisco network architectures
