Job description
The Force Disconnect Carrier Project Manager provides comprehensive project management and oversight for Clients’ LEC carrier decommissioning initiatives, serving as the primary liaison between external providers and internal teams throughout the lifecycle of the decommission process. Periodic support outside standard business hours may be required to address critical network events or outages.
- Host and facilitate daily/weekly meetings; document decisions, action items, and blockers; distribute meeting notes to all stakeholders.
- Manage end-to-end Forced Carrier Decom projects initiated and sent to Client by third-party telecom providers.
- Ensure all incoming forced decommissioning notifications are promptly reviewed, tracked, and assigned to the appropriate internal teams for execution.
- Liaise and negotiate directly with third-party vendors and carriers to secure necessary timeline extensions for forced decoms, ensuring zero unplanned impact to the network.
- Organize, facilitate, and manage regular meetings with cross-functional internal stakeholders to align on project milestones, dependencies, and risks.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation for internal teams regarding service outages, cutover failures, or critical issues triggered by the decommissioning process.
- Prepare and deliver consistent, high-level status updates, reporting dashboards, and executive summaries to leadership.
- Develop and maintain standardized project tracking documentation, workflows, and escalation playbooks for the forced decom program.
- Coordinate seamlessly with internal engineering, operations, and external vendor teams to ensure alternative routing or circuit migrations are completed prior to final disconnection.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of telecommunications technical project management experience
- Proven expertise leading multi-site, multi-phase network deployments and carrier projects, including circuit migration, decommissioning, circuit emulation or conversion, and vendor management
- Thorough knowledge of the TDM and Ethernet circuit ordering and provisioning lifecycle; strong negotiation skills for securing vendor extensions
- AI tools and automation
- Outstanding written, verbal, and executive communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage parallel workstreams and engage cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong background in technical workflow development, process optimization, risk and issue mitigation, and documentation administration
- Experience managing complex technical escalations - specifically network outages.
- PMP certification preferred.
