Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer in Test (SDET) to join a team responsible for end-to-end API automation testing for a critical enterprise platform. This role is heavily focused on backend quality engineering, automation development, and programming, with minimal emphasis on manual testing or UI automation.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated API test frameworks and test suites.

Build robust, reusable automation solutions using Java or Python.

Create, maintain, and execute automated validation for RESTful APIs and backend services.

Collaborate with engineers across multiple teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve quality issues.

Analyze test results, investigate failures, and drive root-cause analysis.

Contribute to automation strategy, framework improvements, and best engineering practices.

Participate in technical reviews and provide quality-focused feedback throughout the software development lifecycle.

Independently own testing deliverables and proactively drive issues to resolution.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Strong experience in API Automation Testing.

Proficiency in Java or Python with demonstrated software development skills.

Hands-on experience with Cucumber or similar BDD frameworks.

Ability to design and write automation code, not simply execute existing test scripts.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proven ability to work independently and manage deliverables with minimal supervision.

Experience collaborating with software development teams in agile environments.

Authorization to work for the full duration of the assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates.

Background in financial services, banking, or highly regulated industries.

Prior software development experience.

Familiarity with API validation tools such as Bruno, Postman, or equivalent platforms.

Experience with additional automation technologies such as Playwright, Cypress, or similar frameworks.

Exposure to cloud platforms and cloud-native application testing.

Role Expectations

Approximately 90% hands-on automation development and coding.

Approximately 10% cross-functional collaboration, defect investigation, and issue resolution.

No manual testing responsibilities.

No current UI automation requirements.

Success in this role requires strong programming capabilities, ownership mindset, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
