Job description

As a Design Engineer you will join our mechanical design team in Mannheim, contributing to the development of specialized, often remotely operated, equipment used for repair processes on nuclear power plant components. You will participate in the full lifecycle of innovative tools and systems-from concept design through testing, qualification, and field deployment.

You will report to the Manager NDE & Special Products and be located at Mannheim, * Develop and design concepts and equipment used for the repair of key nuclear power plant components.

  • Create detailed mechanical designs and technical solutions tailored to complex environments
  • Support the development, testing, and qualification of new equipment, including participation in customer reviews and on-site activities.
  • Contribute to FOAK (First-Of-A-Kind) projects and drive products from prototype to maturity.
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation such as Work Instructions, Development Programs, Test Reports, and Bills of Materials, etc.
  • Provide ongoing support for existing products, including troubleshooting, spare parts coordination, technician training, etc.
  • Contribute to active projects and work closely across departments, sites, and international teams.

Requirements

  • Min. 3 years of experience in development, design and testing of specialized electromechanical equipment.
  • German in speaking and writing (mother tongue or C2-Level) - required
  • English in speaking and writing (min. B1, B2 preferred) - required
  • French in speaking and writing (optional)
  • Proficient user of CAD design software, preferably Creo
  • Knowledge of machining / chip-removal processes (optional)
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics (optional)
  • Knowledge of welded structure design (optional)
  • Strong problem-solving mindset
  • Team-oriented with open and clear communication
